Six Huskies represented the Northeastern women's track & field team this weekend at the 2012 ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championship hosted at NU's home track of the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.
The Huskies garnered seven points and finished in 35th place (out of 50 teams) while Cornell topped Maryland-Eastern Shore by one point for the team title.
Senior
Saleena Abdur-Rashed posted the Huskies' best mark of the weekend, finishing fourth out of 26 hurdlers. The Bronx, N.Y. native finished 13th in the preliminary heat of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.76. Abdur-Rashed passed into the finals by one-hundredth of a second, recording a time of 8.60 in the semifinals. The senior captain finished with the same time in the final race for fourth.
Junior
Julia Westover capture seventh place in a field of 41 in the 20-lb. weight throw. The Lebanon, N.H. native cleared 17.08m (56'0.50) while classmate
Rachel Taback tossed a 17th-place distance of 16.01m (52'6.50) in the same event.
Continuing in the field, junior
Jillena Decarteret tied for 10th in the pole vault with a clearing of 3.70m (12'1.50).
Northeastern's two jumpers, senior
Nia Howard and sophomore
Georgia Pingue concluded their events in 16th and 18th place, respectively. Howard leapt for 5.20m (17'0.75) in the long jump while Pingue put together a combination of 11.40m (37'5).
The Huskies do not have any NCAA qualifiers for next weekend's indoor championship in Nampa, Idaho and will this week off before the first outdoor event in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Northeastern takes on the Shamrock Invitational on March 16-17.
