Matt Miller went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and hit his first home run of the season, while Rob Fonseca and Jon Leroux picked up two hits for the Huskies in the loss.

The game, which was originally scheduled for Shea Field, was moved to Friedman Diamond due to rain.

Senior Sam Berg made his first start of the season on the mound and threw four and a third innings, allowing six runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

Boston College starter Steve Green pitched five innings and allowed three runs on five hits.

The Huskies got on the board in the top of the first inning when freshman third baseman Rob Fonseca doubled to deep left center field, scoring senior left fielder Matt Miller, who had gotten on base with a single through the left side.

Miller added to the lead in the third inning with a two-run home run to left field to make it 3-0. The long ball, which also brought John Puttress home, was the senior's first home run of the season.

But the Eagles responded in the fifth with six runs, including a one-out grand slam to left field by Mark Perdios. The Eagles tacked on their fifth run in the inning before Mike Hanlon came on in relief. The sophomore hurler got out of the inning, but the damage had been done and BC led 6-3.

Jon Leroux hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth, bringing home Fonseca who was on base after a single and cutting the BC lead to 6-5.

Hanlon allowed three more runs in the sixth before freshman Matt Goreham came on in relief. The Quincy native pitched two scoreless innings before getting into trouble in the eighth, allowing two runs before being replaced by Greg Ferguson.

The Huskies got another run in the seventh on an RBI double by Miller that scored Barbosa, who got on with a walk and stole second.

Ferguson, who came in with two runners on base, got through the inning, allowing one run.

Northeastern is back in action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to UMass to take on the Minutemen in a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
