Seventh annual Hockey East Skating Strides
Tomorrow night, the Huskies will participate in the seventh annual Hockey East Skating Strides program presented by Coca Cola. Entering its seventh season, the Hockey East Skating Strides program has raised nearly $200,000 for various breast cancer charities, including a record $45,215 total in 2012. At the same time, the program has garnered interest in the sport, all across the conference, with increased attendance at, and awareness of, the women's ice hockey programs at all eight member institutions.

Recapping last night's win at No. 9 Boston University
Northeastern used six different goal scorers, including captain Vinny Saponari's second-straight game-winning goal against his former club, to defeat archrival No. 9 Boston University in a 6-5 shootout on Friday night at Agganis Arena. Leading 5-2 entering the third period, NU surrendered three straight goals before Saponari's game-winner on a backhand from the near side. The Huskies received multi-point efforts from rookie sensation Kevin Roy (1-2-3), sophomore Adam Reid (1-1-2) and Saponari (1-1-2). Garrett Vermeersch and Dax Lauwers each tallied two assists in the game. The Huskies held a 38-34 edge in shots on goal for the game and converted one-of-four chances on the power play. BU attacked on the power play all night, sinking three on six chances to climb back into the game late. Chris Rawlings stopped 29 shots to elevate to 7-6-1 on the power play.

Eye on the Eagles
Second-ranked Boston College skates into Matthews Arena after having its wings clipped by Massachusetts on Friday night, losing 5-2 and having its 18-game home unbeaten streak snapped dating back to Deember 2011. BC also lost at UNH last weekend (2-1) and have now lost back-to-back outings for the first time since getting swept at Maine on Jan. 20-21, 2012. BC touts the nation's leading scorer in college hockey, Johnny Gaudreau, and his 1.59 points per game (12-15-27). The Eagles offense ranks sixth in the NCAA, averaging 3.35 goals per game, but their defense has suffered and is slotted 29th after surrendering 2.70 goals per game. BC's power play is clicking on all cylinders, though, converting 19-of-82 chances and is listed fifth best in the country. Despite BC's two recent losses, it still possesses the fifth-best winning percentage (.700) in the country.
