WORCESTER, Mass. –
Jewel Tunstull logged a season-best 19 points and added 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the year, but it was not enough as the Huskies (4-3, 0-0 CAA) dropped a 70-62 (6-0, 0-0 Patriot) decision to Holy Cross on Tuesday afternoon in Worcester, Mass.
Tunstull was joined in double figures by

Holy Cross jumped on the board first with a quick 5-0 start before a Tunstull layup put the Huskies within three. Down 11-6, Tunstull landed another shot, but Holy Cross pushed a 12-2 run to give the Crusaders a double-digit lead. Tunstull once again put up two points to break HC's momentum before Holy Cross recorded consecutive free throws and a 3-pointer for another double-figure advantage.
With 3:12 left in the first half, Tunstull drove in a layup from the right side to trigger a run for the Huskies. Williams went 1-for-2 at the charity stripe before a trey from Mercier closed the gap to within seven and pushed NU into the half, trailing 32-25.
Holy Cross entered the second frame, posting the first five points to earn a 12-point lead. The Huskies worked out of the disadvantage, accumulating eight points from Mercier capped with a 3-pointer to come within seven at the 12:54 mark. A 6-1 surge gave the Crusaders another 12-point cushion, but Northeastern once again battled back, cutting the score to four with 5:48 left in regulation.
The final minutes showcased back and forth action, but NU could not break the deficit. Holy Cross closed out the contest after canning two consecutive free throws for a 70-62 finish.
