BOSTON—The Northeastern women's rowing team closed out the fall season with an impressive performance at the Foot of the Charles Regatta on Saturday morning in Boston. The Huskies won the varsity eight event, besting Radcliffe by nearly four seconds.
The Northeastern second varsity finished fifth overall, and first among all second varsity crews.
"This was a great way to finish the fall season and head into winter training," said head coach
Joe Wilhelm.
The Red and Black posted a time of 20:41.8, to win the varsity event, which featured a 23-team field. Radcliffe was second with a time of 20:45.7, and Boston College a distant third in 21:26.9.
The Northeastern B crew crossed the line in 21:37.1, good for fifth, with Radcliffe B in sixth at 21:38.7. The Huskies' C boat finished 17th (22:53.1).
In the novice eight race, Northeastern finished seventh, against a 15-team field, with a time of 15:22.0.
The team will travel to Sarasota, Florida, in early March for its annual spring break training trip, before opening the spring season on March 28 against Boston College, Boston University, Radcliffe, and MIT in the annual Beanpot on the Charles River.
