BOSTON – The Northeastern Huskies continued their early season success at the sixth annual Jay Carisella Invitational by taking home first overall in both the men's and women's meets on Saturday, Dec. 13.

The men finished first out of eight competing teams with a score of 154, while the women claimed the top spot out of seven teams after scoring 153.5.

For the women, junior Camille Gooden had a strong outing in the 400-meter run, placing first overall with a time of 56.83. Gooden has now won the event in both of her first two meets of the season. The women continued their winning ways in the next event as Corinne Myers and Audrey Weyand took home first and second place in the 500-meter run with times of 1:16.08 and 1:17.39, respectively.

In the 60-meter hurdles, newly named captain Nicole Genard kicked off her season with a second-place finish, her time of 9.04 was the fastest among juniors. Just behind Genard was Betsy Garnick who took home fourth in the hurdles, finishing in 9.09 seconds.

Later in the afternoon, Jordan O'Dea would take the top spot in the 5000-meter run crossing the finish line in 17:14.64. Kerri Ruffo and Daphne Apostolidis finished in fifth and seventh place, respectively, in the event.

To round out the track events, the women finished the 4x800 in 9:48.48 to take first place. The team was comprised of Sarah Adler, Jessica Dunnigan, Kelsey Sullivan and Audrey Weyand.

In the field events, the Huskies would continue to shine as they took home a top-three finish in the pole vault, the long jump, the shot put and the weight throw. Jacilyn Briggs' mark of 3.75 meters won the pole vault, while Genard recorded a long jump of 5.64 meters, good for first place.

On the men's side the story was similar as the Huskies took home first in several key events over the course of the afternoon.
