Official Results
BOSTON -- Highlighted by several individual top finishes and personal bests, the Northeastern track and field teams opened the 2014-15 season in style at Boston University's season opener.
All in all, Northeastern claimed first place in seven different events. The team secured top-four finishes in 26 total events.
Paul Duffey's success from the 2014 cross country season carried over into track and field as the sophomore earned a first-place finish in the one-mile run with a time of 4:14.65. Just behind Duffey was freshman
Ben Trapani, who took home fourth after completing the mile in 4:22.25, a personal record.
The men's success continued throughout the day as the team had three runners finish in the top four of the 3000-meter run.
Stephen Sollowin finished first overall with a time of 8:14.42. Teammates
Christian Stafford and
Zachary Fraielli earned third- and fourth-place finishes with times of 8:27.20 and 8:32.26, respectively.
In the 60-meter hurdles it was Northeastern's
Jordan Samuels completing the event first. The freshman tackled the Hurdles in 8.19 seconds, a personal best, and a time that ranks him fourth all-time in the event. Sophomore
Kyle Darrow placed third in his 60-meter dash with a time of 6.90, which is the second fastest in program history.
The 4x400 team, comprised of
Donovan Henry,
Joshua Norris,
Kyle Darrow and
Anthony Pavlich, also secured the top spot with a time of 3:21.87.
The Huskies experienced success in the field events to compliment their track victories.
Kevin Rosenberg took home second place in the shot put, throwing the metal ball a remarkable 16.77 meters.
The women put together strong performances as well, earning five top-three finishes in their respective events.
Camille Gooden opened the season taking first overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.62.
In her first collegiate track and field event, newcomer
Sarah Adler completed the 800-meter run in 2:17.84, also good for first place. Freshman
Corinne Myers shined in her 1000-meter run, finishing with a time of 2:55.67, a new personal best.
Junior
Alexandra Rose had a stellar day in the weight throw, posting a career-best mark of 15.77, good for first place overall. This marks the first time Rose has won the weight throw in her career.
The Huskies now turn their attention to next weekend's Jay Carisella Invitational, which takes place on Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. The event honors Northeastern track and field alumni, Jay Carisella, who tragically lost his life in a car accident in 2007.
