PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Northeastern baseball head coach Neil McPhee won his 700th career victory after senior starting pitcher Chris Carmain tossed eight scoreless innings and the Huskies topped St. Bonaventure, 7-2, in the second game of the Snowbird Baseball Classic on Sunday afternoon.

"To me, the number 700 is a reflection of the quality of players we've had in the Northeastern baseball program," said McPhee. "They're the ones who win games."

Carmain had the best outing of his collegiate career by tossing a career-best eight innings and matching a career-high six strikeouts. The Methuen, Mass., native allowed only two hits, both of which were singles, and one of those singles came off a bad hop on the lip of the infield grass.

Brad Burcroff  (2-for-5, 2R, 2B) got the scoring started in the first inning when he doubled to deep left-center field and  Michael Foster (2-for-4, 2R, 2SB, BB) followed with a walk. Jason Vosler (4-for-4, R, 2B, 3B, 2RBI) doubled to right field to score both runners and give the Huskies (3-5) an early 2-0 lead.

Burcroff was once again the catalyst when he ignited a four-run third inning by hitting a towering double to left field. Foster's groundout moved Burcroff to third, which allowed him to sprint home on a wild pitch in the next at bat, giving NU a 3-0 lead.

Vosler then tripled with the bases empty, and Josh Treff (0-for-5, RBI) collected an RBI with a groundout to second. Connor Lyons (1-for-3, R, SB) was hit by a pitch and stole second, and Nick Fanneron (2-for-4, R, RBI) singled to left field to score Lyons. Fanneron moved into scoring position when Mike Piscopo (1-for-3, SB) was hit by a pitch, and Shane Allen's (1-for-4, RBI) single scored Fanneron to increase NU's lead to 6-0.

The Huskies went up 7-0 in the sixth inning when Foster singled and stole second, and an infield single by Vosler followed by a throwing error by the St. Bonaventure shortstop allowed Foster to score.

The Bonnies (0-8) scored two runs in the ninth inning highlighted by an RBI single by Andy Lalonde.

The Huskies return to action on Tuesday, March 4, when they play New England rival Maine at 10:30 a.m.
