NU Baseball Adds 14 To 2025 Fall Roster

BOSTON -- The Northeastern University baseball team welcomed 14 new players, nine true freshmen and five transfers, to its 2025 Fall roster ahead of the 2026 season.

The class includes seven position players and seven new pitchers, to combine with 26 returners from a historic 2025 season, with the Huskies looking to reload for the upcoming 2026 spring.

"We are very excited about our incoming freshman and transfers for this coming year," said head coach Mike Glavine. "We have a great blend of athletic position players and talented pitchers. We feel this group addresses areas of immediate need but also builds for the future. This is a great mix of experienced talent and young players. They are a great fit for our program and team culture."

TRANSFERS

Robbie O'Connor – Junior – Right-Handed Pitcher – Sudbury, Mass. – Lincoln-Sudbury / Northeast Baseball | UMass
6'4", 170 lbs – R/R

A local product from Sudbury, Robbie O'Connor transfers from UMass Amherst where he earned Atlantic 10 All Rookie Team honors in 2024. The Lincoln-Sudbury graduate was also the DCL Pitcher of the Year in 2021 while playing for Northeast Baseball. O'Connor brings proven collegiate experience and local knowledge to the Huskies' pitching staff.


Ian Oehlschlaeger – Sophomore – Outfielder – Clifton Park, N.Y. – Shenendehowa / Allstars Academy | RPI
6'5", 225 lbs – R/R

A towering outfielder transferring from RPI, Ian Oehlschlaeger brings impressive size and athleticism to the Huskies' outfield. The Shenendehowa High School product played for Allstars Academy and earned multiple accolades including D3 All-American, 1st Team All-Region and Rookie of the Year, and 1st Team Liberty League honors. His mother played softball at Columbia University.


Luc Rising – Junior – Right-Handed Pitcher – Exton, Pa. – Downingtown East / Batavia Muckdogs | RIT
6'2", 215 lbs – R/R

Coming from Rochester Institute of Technology, Luc Rising was named a Perfect Game College Baseball League All-Star in 2025 and earned 1st Team Starting Pitcher honors for the PGCBL. The Downingtown East graduate also earned 1st Team All Liberty League honors as a reliever in 2024. Rising played summer ball for the Batavia Muckdogs in the prestigious PGCBL.


Matthew Sapienza – Senior – Right-Handed Pitcher – North Andover, Mass. – Phillips Academy | Georgetown
6'2", 215 lbs – R/R

A transfer from Georgetown University, Matthew Sapienza is a local product from North Andover who attended prestigious Phillips Academy. His father played football at Syracuse University and was part of the 1987 undefeated season team. Sapienza brings Big East experience and strong academic credentials to the Huskies' rotation.


Andrew Wertz – Graduate Student – Right-Handed Pitcher – Dover, N.H. – Saint Thomas Aquinas / NEB NH | Salve Regina
6'3", 230 lbs

A right-handed pitcher from New Hampshire, Andrew Wertz joins the Huskies from Division III Salve Regina University. Wertz brings valuable experience and was a standout performer at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School before playing club baseball with NEB NH from 2019-2021. This past summer with the Valley Blue Sox of the NECBL, Wertz was named a mid-season All Star and the league's Joe Nathan Top Releiver at season's end. The graduate student adds depth and leadership to the Huskies' pitching rotation.


FRESHMEN

Miles Blake – Freshman – Left-Handed Pitcher – Brookfield, Mass. – Tantasqua Regional / Jr. Woosox Baseball
5'11", 195 lbs – L/L

Named Central Massachusetts Player of the Year, Miles Blake was a four-year varsity player at Tantasqua Regional High School. The left-handed pitcher played for Jr. Woosox Baseball and brings strong credentials from central Massachusetts. His brother Henry is a catcher at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, keeping baseball in the family.

Charlie Criscola – Freshman – Shortstop/Second Baseman – Uxbridge, Mass. – Uxbridge High / Nashua Silver Knights
5'11", 165 lbs – L/R

A 2023 PBR Future Games Massachusetts MVP, Charlie Criscola is the Uxbridge High all-time hits leader and holds the school record for most hits in a season as a freshman. The left-handed hitting infielder played for Nokona Baseball and the Nashua Silver Knights. His great uncle Anthony Criscola was a professional baseball player.

Danny Flynn – Freshman – Outfielder – Danvers, Mass. – Worcester Academy / Expos Baseball
5'11", 170 lbs – L/R

A CNEPSBL Champion in 2022 and ASFL Home Run Derby participant, Danny Flynn attended multiple prep schools including St. John's Prep, Phillips Academy Andover, and Worcester Academy before graduating. The left-handed hitting outfielder played for Expos Baseball from 2022-2024 and brings versatility to the Huskies' outfield corps.

Tyler Harmony – Freshman – Infielder – Fairfield, Conn. – Canterbury School / 5 Star National
6'0", 185 lbs – L/R

A versatile middle infielder and third baseman, Tyler Harmony earned multiple 1st Team All-NEPSAC honors and 1st Team All-WNEPBL recognition. The Canterbury School graduate also earned 1st Team All-NEBJ honors and brings impressive credentials from Connecticut prep baseball. Harmony played for 5 Star National and the Vermont Lake Monsters.

Scott Longo – Freshman – Left-Handed Pitcher – Milton, Mass. – Milton High / Nashua Silver Knights
5'10", 185 lbs – L/L

A 2023 State Championship winner and three-time MIAA Player of the Year finalist, Scott Longo was also Bay State MVP. The Milton High graduate played for MDB Knights from 2015-2024 and spent time with the Nashua Silver Knights. Longo brings championship experience and local knowledge to the Huskies' pitching staff.

Cooper Maher – Freshman – Pitcher – Westerly, R.I. – Bishop Hendricken / Norwich Sea Unicorns
6'0", 170 lbs – R/R

A Second Team All-State selection and Perfect Game Pre-Season All-American, Cooper Maher joins the Huskies from Bishop Hendricken. The right-handed pitcher played summer ball for the Norwich Sea Unicorns and brings impressive credentials from Rhode Island. Maher was a four-year varsity player and earned numerous accolades during his prep career.

Tom Mahoney – Freshman – Right-Handed Pitcher – Winchester, Mass. – Dexter Southfield / Antonelli Baseball
6'2", 205 lbs – R/R

A local product from Winchester, Tom Mahoney played at Dexter Southfield and for Antonelli Baseball. His family has strong Northeastern connections - his grandfather played football for the Huskies, and his cousin played football at Columbia and Central Michigan. Mahoney brings local ties and strong fundamentals to the pitching staff.

Landon Manzi – Freshman – Right-Handed Pitcher – Killingly, Conn. – Killingly High / CT Hurricanes
6'4", 185 lbs – R/R

A two-time All-Conference and Connecticut All-State Class M selection, Landon Manzi was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 14th round (415th overall) on July 14, 2025. The Killingly High four-year varsity player competed for the CT Hurricanes for four seasons from 2022-2024. Manzi brings professional draft pedigree and impressive size to the mound.

David Pengel – Freshman – Outfielder – Avon, Conn. – Avon High School / Northeast Baseball
6'3", 185 lbs – R/R

The #1 ranked outfielder from Connecticut in the 2025 class according to Perfect Game, David Pengel was a Connecticut All-State player and Deep South Perfect Game Tournament MVP. The Avon High School captain and National Honor Society member played for Northeast Baseball and brings exceptional credentials from the Nutmeg State. His sister Jackie plays softball at Syracuse.
