Box Score

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Chris Carmain allowed only two earned runs through seven innings, but Presbyterian posted two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure a 4-3 win over Northeastern in the Huskies' last game of the Snowbird Baseball Classic on Saturday morning.

The Blue Hose (6-7-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Brad Zebedis' double scored Tyler Weyenberg, but NU rallied for a pair of runs in the fifth inning to take a 2-1 lead.

Connor Lyons (2-for-5, R, 3B) led off the top of the fifth with a triple to right field and Michael Foster (2-for-4, 2R, RBI) followed with an RBI single to put the Huskies (4-8) on the board. Foster moved into scoring position on a wild pitch, and Jason Vosler's (0-for-3) groundout allowed Foster to move 90 feet from home. Brad Burcroff (0-for-3, 2RBI) hit a fly ball to deep left field, allowing Foster to tag up and score the go-ahead run.

Presbyterian strung together three consecutive singles in the sixth inning, starting with Cam McRae's infield single followed by Brandon Paul's single to left-center field that put runners on the corners. Brandon Martin's infield single was deep enough at shortstop to allow McRae to score the game-tying run.

The Huskies reclaimed the lead in the following frame when Lyons began the seventh inning with a single and Foster reached base after being hit by a pitch. A throwing error by Blue Hose pitcher Bennett Nalley on a pickoff attempted allowed both Lyons and Foster to advance one base. Lyons tried to take home when Vosler hit a groundball to first but was thrown out at the plate. Foster advanced to third on the fielder's choice, and once again Burcroff hit a sac fly to score Foster and give the Huskies a 3-2 lead.

A defensive miscue by the Huskies and an unlucky bounce allowed Presbyterian to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh. Gabe Levanti's (1-for-1) throwing error from third base allowed Derek Long to reach base, and Weyenberg followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Carmain (7IP, 2ER, 3K) struck out the next batter for the inning's second out. Weyenberg took second base on a wild pitch, and NU intentionally walked Zebedis to load the bases. McRae followed with a hard ground ball down the third base line as the ball hit the bag and careened into the outfield. McRae's two-run double sealed the win for the Blue Hose.

The Huskies open their home schedule with a three-game series against Niagara starting on Friday, March 14, at 3 p.m.
