Jason Vosler hit his first home run of the season and
Nick Fanneron picked up a career-high three hits as the Northeastern baseball team pulled off a come-from-behind win over Towson on Friday afternoon, 7-4.
The Huskies (14-17, 3-4 CAA) trailed 4-2 entering the bottom of the fifth inning when
Brad Burcroff (1-for-2, 2 R) led off with a walk and moved into scoring position following a wild pitch with nobody out. After a strikeout,
Michael Foster (1-for-2, R, RBI, 2 SB) drew a walk to put two runners on base, and Fanneron's (3-for-4, RBI) third single of the game allowed Burcroff to score and bring NU to within 4-3.
Mike Fitzgerald tossed two shutout innings in relief of starting pitcher
Nick Berger to keep the Huskies within striking distance. Burcroff reached base with a one-out infield single in the seventh inning, and Vosler (1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) followed with a monster shot that cleared the right-field press box and gave the Huskies a 5-4 lead.
Northeastern added a pair of insurance runs later in the frame thanks to a two-out, two-run single by pinch hitter
Shane Allen (1-for-1, 2 RBI). Both Foster and
Gabe Levanti (0-for-3, R) scored on Allen's base hit to right field. Foster reached base on a single and moved to third base on his 10th and 11th stolen bases of the season. Levanti got on base via a walk.
Burcroff closed the door on the Tigers to record a two-inning save, the first of his career.
The Huskies grabbed an early 2-0 lead after
Connor Lyons (2-for-5, R) began the first inning with a single up the middle and then moved to third base after Burcroff's sac bunt and a wild pitch. Foster's single to centerfield scored Lyons to put NU in front.

Sean Lyons to cross the plate and give the Huskies a 2-0 lead.
Berger got off to a strong start by striking out the first four batters he faced, but the junior from Commack, N.Y., ran into trouble in the third inning. Towson's Kurt Wertz hit a two-run double with two outs to tie the game, 2-2, and the Tigers (15-14, 0-4 CAA) claimed a 3-2 lead on a Pat Fitzgerald RBI single in the fourth. An RBI single by Peter Bowles push Towson's lead to 4-2 in the top of the of the fifth, but Northeastern rallied for five unanswered runs to win the first contest of the weekend's three-game series.
The second game of the series between Northeastern and Towson begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 12.
