SETTING THE STAGEFresh off its fourth CAA title in the last six years, the Northeastern women's rowing team will now set its sights on the NCAA Championship regatta, which will be held Friday-Sunday at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. Northeastern will have three crews competing at the national championship, marking the first-ever team appearance for the Huskies and the fifth appearance by the varsity eight since the NCAA regatta was launched in 1997. The NU varsity placed in the top 10 in each of its previous four showings, including a fourth-place finish in 1998.

THE FIELDThe team championship is composed of 22 teams, including 11 auto-qualifiers and 11 at-large bids. For the I Eights, II Eights and Fours, all 22 boats will be seeded into four heats.
Joining Northeastern as auto-qualifiers are Boston University (Patriot), Jacksonville (MAAC), Louisville (American), UMass (A-10), Ohio State (Big Ten), Oklahoma (Conference USA), Princeton (Ivy), San Diego (WCC), Stanford (Pac-12) and Virginia (ACC).
The at-large field is composed of Brown, California, UCLA, Harvard, Indiana, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin.

COMPETITION SCHEDULEThe NU varsity eight will compete in heat three on Friday, May 30 at 9:30 a.m. The Huskies are scheduled to face UCLA, Princeton, California, Washington State and Jacksonville. The second varsity eight is also slotted in the third heat for its event and will battle Indiana, Ohio State, California, Harvard and Jacksonville at 10:10 a.m. The varsity four will row at 10:40 a.m. in heat two against Harvard, Virginia, California and UCLA.
THE VENUEHosted by the University of Notre Dame in conjunction with the Indiana Sports Group and the Indianapolis Rowing Center, the national championship will be held at Eagle Creek Park for the fourth time in 2014. The venue also hosted the competition in 2002, 2003 and 2013.Â
HUSKIES HONORED BY CRCANortheastern took home 14 awards from the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). Eight student-athletes were honored as National Scholar-Athletes:

Chelsea Brown,
Jillian Hoban,
Chloe Laverack,
Kelsey Mancini,
Meghan O'Keefe,
Lauren Terris and
Alaina Williams. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA, be in their sophomore year or later and have rowed in one of their institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boats for 75 percent of the spring races or regional conference events.Â

Kelsey Flynn and Williams were named First Team All-Mid Atlantic Region, while Laverack earned second-team laurels. No other team in the Mid-Atlantic Region had more than two first-team selections, and NU's five total honorees equaled the most by any program in the region.Â
Head coach
Joe Wilhelm was also named the Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year after guiding the Huskies to their fourth CAA title and an NCAA Championship berth. Less than two weeks ago, Wilhelm earned CAA Coach of the Year accolades for the third time in four seasons.Â
