CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Northeastern Huskies wrapped up their weekend slate of competition on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Beantown Challenge, hosted by Harvard University.

The event was a continuation of the Harvard Multi event, which was hosted on Friday. A team of
Nicole Genard,
Kelsey Sullivan,
Erika Moran,
Betsy Garnick and
Allyson Crooke finished a pentathlon for the women, while
Nicholas Tyler,
Matthew Ferri,
Connor McCarthy and
Nick Fofana started a heptathlon on Friday and finished it on Saturday.
Sullivan finished in fifth place for the women's pentathlon with a final score of 3373. Garnick and Genard earned seventh- and 12th-place finishes with point totals of 3222 and 2916, respectively.Â

The day began with the fifth event of the men's heptathlon, the 60-meter hurdles. Northeastern's Fofana continued his success from Friday, pacing the Huskies in the event with a time of 8.47, good for fifth overall. Just behind Fofana was McCarthy, who took home sixth place after completing his hurdles in 8.63 seconds.

From an individual standpoint,
Nick Fofana earned a third-place finish with a score of 5009, the second best score in program history for a heptathlon. Ferri and McCarthy finished in 11th and 12 place, respectively, with scores of 3804 and 3729.

At the Beantown Challenge, captain
Jacilyn Briggs had an excellent day for Northeastern, securing a second-place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 3.75 meters. Corrinne Myers, just a freshman in the program, continued her hot start to the season, taking home a second-place finish in the 500-meter run. She crossed the finish line in 1:16.93.
Her efforts were matched by sophomore
Jordan O'Dea in the 3000-meter run. O'Dea finished in third place with a time of 9:46.96.
Kerri Ruffo was just behind her, wrapping up a sixth-place finish with a time of 10:15.82.

In the one-mile run, it was sophomore
Lucy Young leading the Huskies. She took home a sixth-place finish after completing the event in 5:01.94. In the 60-meter dash,
Amanda Reilly also finished in sixth place overall with a time of 7.88.
Jessica Dunnigan had a successful outing in the 400-meter run, taking home fourth place, finishing the run in 59.84.

During the field events, the Huskies also experienced success, highlighted by
Alexandra Rose's fifth-place finish in the weight throw. She posted a mark of 14.96 meters.

For the men, several Huskies experienced success on the track.
Paul Duffey finished in first place in his event, the 1000-meter run, with a time of 2:24.02, which ranks him fourth all-time in program history in the 1000-meter run.Â

Damani Wilson and
Kyle Darrow shined in the 60-meter dash, finishing in second and third place with marks of 6.88 and 6.97, respectively. Wilson's mark of 6.88 is a new school record.
Donovan Henry earned a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, completing the event in 22.33. Wilson was just behind Henry in the 200-meter dash, securing fifth place with a time of 22.36.

In the field events,
James Hall had a strong showing in the weight throw, finishing with a mark of 17.16, good for sixth place.

His teammate
Kevin Rosenberg secured a third-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 15.82 meters. Darrow took home first place in the long jump with a mark of 7.04 meters, while Samuels finished in third place in the triple jump, with a mark of 13.57 meters.
