BOSTON – With the 2015 calendar year winding down, the Northeastern women's basketball team will wrap up its non-conference schedule on Monday, Dec. 28, as the Huskies host local rival, Boston College, for a 2 p.m. game at Cabot Center. NU will be welcoming the ACC program to Huntington Avenue for the first time since Dec. 12, 2002.

ALL-TIME AGAINST BOSTON COLLEGE

Between 1967 and 1982, Northeastern had asserted its dominance against its crosstown foe, winning its first nine meetings against Boston College. Since then, the Eagles have won 14 of the last 18 games played between the two programs, claiming their first ever lead in the all-time series on Dec. 31, 2014, at 14-13. With a win on Monday, NU would snap a six-game losing skid against BC.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES

Boston College rides a four-game winning streak into Cabot Center on Monday, while sporting an overall record of 9-1. Kelly Hughes leads the Eagles with 13.8 points per game on 49.5 percent shooting, but Mariella Fasoula poses equally as a threat to the Huskies, averaging 10.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. BC has 10 players averaging more than 10.0 minutes per game, two more than Northeastern's eight, and boasts a scoring defense of 49.4 points, a mark that ranks second in the ACC only behind Virginia Tech.

ALL TOO COMMON

The Huskies and Eagles have faced three common opponents during the 2015-16 season. Here is a look at how both teams have fared against the same competition:

OpponentNU ResultBC Result
Boston UniversityW, 77-44 (+33)W, 58-37 (+21)
MaineW, 56-44 (+12)W, 55-48 (+7)
New HampshireW, 66-54 (+12)W, 75-52 (+23)

NU KNOCKS DOWN 10 3-POINTERS

On Dec. 21 against Canisius, Northeastern drained a season high, ten 3-pointers, the most the Huskies have recorded in a single game since Feb. 8, 2015, against Towson. Both NU (10-of-27) and the Golden Griffins (11-of-23) combined to make an impressive 21 shots from behind the arc as the Huskies lost a shootout, 68-57. Seven different Northeastern players successfully made a 3-pointer during the game.

COLE AGAINST BEANPOT SCHOOLS

Now in her second year as head coach of Northeastern, Kelly Cole is 2-2 in games against Beanpot schools (Boston College, Boston University, Harvard). Cole and the Huskies met all three opponents during the 2014-15 season, earning a win against the Terriers (75-74) while losing to the Crimson (65-67) and the Eagles (56-66). This year, NU kicked off its season with a 77-44 rout against Boston University.

TOUGH COMPETITION

Boston College will be the sixth opponent Northeastern will face that enters with at least five victories. NU is 2-3 this season in games pitted against teams with five or more victories, having defeated New Hampshire (5-1) and Maine (6-3), and lost to Missouri (5-0), No. 24/22 Michigan State (7-2), and Canisius (6-3).

LASSITER MATCHES CAREER HIGH

On Dec. 21 against Canisius, Loren Lassiter equaled her career-high mark of eight rebounds, while playing in a season high, 22 minutes of action. Lassiter previously had brought down eight boards on Jan. 22, 2015 against Towson.

DEFREESE NAVIDAD

Senior co-captain Samantha DeFreese is on pace to become the Huskies' next 1,000-point scorer. Entering Monday's game against Boston College, DeFreese has amassed 888 career points and needs 112 to reach the four-digit milestone. If the Bergenfield, New Jersey, native were to maintain her 15.2 points per game average as the season continues, she would need just eight games to achieve the feat.

SALLY SCORES 14 AGAINST SPARTY

Junior center Francesca Sally dropped a season high, 14 points, against No. 24/22 Michigan State during the first game of the Northeastern Winter Showdown on Dec. 18. Sally scored 10 of her 14 points during the second half, knocking down four of her eight field-goal attempts in the third and fourth quarters. The Denver, Colorado, native has three 10-point scoring games this season and is second on the team with 5.9 rebounds per game.

HUSKIES PLAY NO. 24/22 MSU IN SHOWDOWN

Playing its first game in Matthews Arena since Nov. 13, 2013, Northeastern ran into a strong rebounding team in No. 24/22 Michigan State as the Spartans topped the Huskies, 77-51, to take the opening game of the Northeastern Winter Showdown. Francesca Sally led NU with 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists, while Samantha DeFreeseshot 50 percent (four-of-eight) en route to 11 points and two rebounds. Te'Erica Eason stepped up for the Huskies off the bench with seven points, while Tiffany Montagne hit two 3-pointers, ending the game with six points.
