BOSTON – The No. 9 Northeastern women's hockey team (0-2-0) battled back to erase a three-goal deficit before allowing the game-winning goal with 18 seconds remaining as St. Lawrence (2-0-0) completed the weekend sweep with a 6-5 victory on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena. 

Junior Denisa Krizova notched a goal and two assists, while junior McKenna Brand (two goals), senior Hayley Scamurra (goal, assist), senior Heather Mottau (two assists) and freshman Bailey Coyne (two assists) each recorded multi-point performances. 

The Huskies trailed by scores of 3-0, 4-2 and 5-3, before ultimately tying the game at 5-5 on a Krizova goal with just over eight minutes remaining in the third period. The game appeared to be headed for overtime, before a failed clearance in the defensive zone led to the deciding goal as Kennedy Marchment found Hannah Miller wide open in front of the NU net for the game-winner.

Senior Sarah Foss stopped 23 shots for Northeastern in her first action of the season.

Goal Recaps
• St. Lawrence took the lead at 7:19 of the first period when Justine Reyes stripped the puck away in the defensive zone, raced down the ice with speed, and beat Foss over the blocker from the right circle.
• The Saints pushed the lead to 3-0 with two goals in a span of 1:23 early in the second stanza. Nadine Edney lit the lamp at 2:25, deflecting the puck inside the left post following a diving pass from Maggie McLaughlin to make it 2-0. Marchment then tacked on a shorthanded goal at 3:48 with a snipe over the shoulder of Foss from the right wing.
• Northeastern responded with two goals in quick succession to cut the scoreline to 3-2. Scamurra netted NU's first of the season with a power-play tally at 4:53, blasting a shot through traffic from the top of the zone.
• Sophomore Kasidy Anderson added a second just 1:14 later when she forced a turnover at center ice. After the puck caromed off the skate of Coyne, Anderson gathered the disc in the neutral zone, skated into the SLU end with speed, and rifled a laser into the top left corner of the net from the top of the left circle. 
• The scoreline did not last long as St. Lawrence regained a two-goal cushion at 9:22 of the second period. After a wraparound attempt by Marchment produced a loose puck in the crease, Webster was able to swat home the disc from point-blank range to make it 4-2 Saints.
• NU cut into the deficit once again when Krizova beat a defender along the right wing before centering for Brand to chip home at 18:08 of the frame. 
• The back-and-forth action continued midway through the third period when SLU pushed back ahead by two courtesy of a brilliant solo effort by Miller.
• Down but not out, NU fought back to tie the game with two goals separated by a span of 1:01. Brand  made it 5-4 with her second of the day on a wrist-shot from the top of the left circle at 10:36. 
• Just over a minute later, Scamurra centered for Krizova, who dangled the puck around SLU netminder Grace Harrison to tie the score at 5-5 with 8:23 remaining in the third.
• St. Lawrence ultimately had the final say, however, when Marchment found Miller wide open in front of the NU net for the game-winning goal at 19:42 of the final frame. 

Noteworthy
• With three points Saturday, Denisa Krizova now has 97 career points in her NU career. Only 24 other players in program history have recorded 100 or more career points.
• NU killed both SLU power plays and is a perfect 8-for-8 on the penalty kill so far this season.
• Brand notched her fourth career two-goal game and her first since Jan. 29, 2016 at UNH.
• Coyne posted her first two collegiate points with a pair of assists. 
• Coyne and sophomore Morgan Crane each posted a team-high plus-two rating.
• Freshman Codie Cross registered her first collegiate point with an assist on Scamurra's power-play goal.
