BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team will head to Connecticut for its first road game of the season when it takes on UConn Monday night at 7 p.m. in a game that will be broadcasted on SNY.

The Huskies began the year off with a 87-77 season opening victory over Boston University at Matthews Arena on Friday night as
Alex Murphy and
T.J. Williams combined for 50 points in the victory.

Northeastern and UConn will meet in the regular season for the first time since Dec. 6, 2007 and for the first time since a March 16, 2010 meeting in the first round of the NIT Tournament.

• This is the 97th season of Northeastern men's basketball. Northeastern has an all-time record of 1,173-1,085 (.519) in 2,258 games.
• The Huskies are 371-253 (.595) all-time in conference play including a 113-83 (.577) record since joining the CAA in the 2005-06 season.
• The Huskies have amassed 12 regular season conference championships and eight tournament titles including a 2015 title which sent the Huskies to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 24 years.

• Ford signed as a free agent with the Utah Jazz while Walker currently plays for BC Andorra of the Liga ACB and Stahl is in Finland.
• The Huskies have also added five new faces to the squad this year in graduate student

HUSKY SHOWDOWN
• Northeastern will take on another Husky program for the first time since the two programs faced each other at the end of the 2009-10 season
• The Huskies will face back-to-back squads with canine mascots (after facing BU in the season opener) for the first time since starting the 2013-14 season off against the Terriers followed by a meeting with the Stony Brook Seawolves,
• Connecticut is the only other Division-I program the Huskies have faced with a Husky mascot (Houston Baptist, No. Illinois, Washington)

SCOUTING THE "OTHER" HUSKIES
• UConn is headed into the 2016-17 season with five returning letterwinners and six newcomers. Coming off of a 25-11 season, 11-7 in the American Athletic Conference, and its first AAC Championship, winning the title in the Amway Center in Orlando.
• Last season marked UConn's sixth consecutive 20-win season, and earned the Huskies their 33rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament, their eighth postseason bid in the last nine years.
• UConn began its season, like the Huskies, on Friday night. However, unlike Northeastern, UConn fell in their season opener, 67-58, to Wagner of the Northeast Conference.
• The Huskies' leading returning scorer, redshirt senior Rodney Purvis (12.8 ppg), had just five points in UConn's opener while the Huskies' were led by by Terry Larrier who had 19 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

• UConn will look to rebound against Northeastern on Monday night before heading out to California for a meeting at Loyola Marymount on Thursday and then out to Maui for the Maui Jim Maui Invitational next weekend.

ALL-TIME SERIES
• The two teams have met 39 times in the past, in a series that dates back to the 1926-27 season.
•The majority of the meetings between the two squads occured between 1926-27 and 1958 before UConn and Northeastern met once, in the 1985-86 season when Jim Calhoun was the head coach of the Boston-based Huskies, a game that helped UConn AD John Toner decide to hire Calhoun later that year to head the Connecticut based-Huskies

• Connecticut overcame a six-point deficit with six minutes left to sneak away with a 59-57 win over Northeastern in the first round of the NIT Tuesday night in Storrs, Conn.
• No. 4 seed Connecticut advanced to the second round against No. 1 Virginia Tech. No. 5 seed Northeastern ends its season with a 20-13 record, its first 20-victory season under head coach

• Matt Janning led Northeastern with 17 points on 6-of-19 shooting, 3-for-7 from deep. Manny Adako (14), Nkem Ojougboh (11) and Chaisson Allen (10) all chipped in double figures for NU, which shot 41 percent for the game and committed only six turnovers
• Jerome Dyson led Connecticut with 18 points as UConn shot 44 percent from the floor

• In Northeastern's last time out on the court, the Huskies took down Boston University in the season opener at Matthews Arena

CAREER NIGHT FOR MURPHY
• Grad Student
Alex Murphy had a career night in his Husky debut against Boston University
• Murphy netted 20 points, four rebounds and four assists helping Northeastern to the victory
• His 20 points, a career high, came on 7-of-10 shooting, both career bests for the Duke and Florida transfer
• His four assists marked the first time in his career that he tallied a multi-assist game
• Murphy also played in 30 minutes of action, the most time he has ever seen on the court in a single game
• Murphy's numbers from the season opener, were more than his three combined efforts last season at Florida

DOUBLE-DIGITS FOR GRESHAM
• For the first time in his Husky career, Donnell Gresham played in a season opener and hit the double-digit scoring mark
• Sitting out the first half of the season last year after recovering from surgery, Gresham made his debut at NC State at the end of December where he tallied nine points in his debut
• In this season's debut, in the season opener, Gresham went 2-for-2 from behind the arc and 6-for-7 from the charity stripe to record 12 points, the first double-digit effort of his career

• The Huskies were picked to finish seventh in the CAA in 2016-17 by the conference's coaches.
• UNCW was picked to win the league while Towson was second and William & Mary was chosen to finish third.
