BOSTON – Coming off of a 64-61 victory at Connecticut on Monday night, the Northeastern men's basketball team will head across town to Case Gymnasium for the Steve Wright Classic this Friday, November 18 to Sunday, November 20.

The three-day tournament will begin with a Friday night rematch at 6 p.m. against the host-Terriers after defeating them 87-77 last Friday night.

On Saturday, Northeastern will face off against LIU Brooklyn for the first time since the 1988-89 season at 6 p.m. and will round out the weekend with a 2 p.m. game against former America East-foe Maine on Sunday afternoon.

• This is the 97th season of Northeastern men's basketball. Northeastern has an all-time record of 1,174-1,085 (.520) in 2,259 games

MAINE TIES
•Northeastern Associate Head Coach
Chris Markwood, a native of South Portland, Maine, graduated from the University of Maine in 2005
•Markwood, the 2000 Maine Gatorade Player of the Year, began his playing career before transferring back to his home state where he played in 45 games for the Black Bears averaging 6.7 ppg and 3.0 apg and was named team captain in 2004-05
• He capped his senior campaign by hitting a 3-pointer with three seconds left to lift Maine to a 46-45 upset victory over BU in the 2005 America East tournament quarterfinals.
•Following graduation, Markwood spent five years along the Maine sidelines as an assistant coach at his alma mater

THE TERRIERS
• Just one week ago, in the season opener for both teams,
T.J. Williams and
Alex Murphy combined for 50 points as the Huskies rolled over Boston University 87-77 Friday night in front of a crowd of 2,287 at Matthews Arena
• Williams tallied a career-best 30 points, marking the first 30-point game of his career. His 30 points were the most in a Northeastern season opener since Reggie Lewis had 32 against No. 2 Louisville in an 88-84 victory at the Great Alaska Shootout on Nov. 28, 1986
• In his first game in the red and black, Murphy notched a career-best 20 points on 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc, while also dishing out four assists and hauling in four rebounds. The four assists marked the first multi-assist outing of Murphy's career, while his three treys were also a career best
• Donnell Gresham added 12 for Northeastern, going 2-for-2 from behind the arc and most importantly 6-of-7 from the charity stripe
• Also making their Northeastern debuts were

THE BLACKBIRDS
• The last time the Huskies and Blackbirds faced off was during the 1988-89 season at the Lapchick Tournament in Queens, N.Y.
• The two teams were tied at the half, but the Huskies went off in the second half and held the Blackbirds without a three en route to an 83-68 victory
• Ron Lacey led all scorers with 21 points while George Yuille added 16 for the Huskies and Steve Carney added an 11 point, 10 rebound double-double
• Fred Burton also had 21 for Long Island to go along with eight rebounds while Timothy Pounds notched a 15 point, 10 rebound double-double

• The last time Northeastern and Maine met was at the beginning of the 2012-13 season, a 76-73 victory for the Black Bears
• Justin Edwards put up 30 points for Maine on 11-of-12 shooting while Alasdair Fraser added 20

Joel Smith, now Northeastern's video coordinator, went off for 19 points while Reggie Spencer added 16 points and 10 rebounds for his third career double-double
• Trailing by 11 with under five minutes to play, NU charged back to within one in the final minute of play, but could not close the gap
•  The Huskies, who led by seven early in the second half, and by five with 12:16 remaining, could not withstand an 18-4 run by the visiting Black Bears

Alex Murphy had a career night in his Husky debut against Boston University
• Murphy netted 20 points, four rebounds and four assists helping Northeastern to the victory
• His 20 points, a career high, came on 7-of-10 shooting, both career bests for the Duke and Florida transfer
• His four assists marked the first time in his career that he tallied a multi-assist game
• Murphy's numbers from the season opener, were more than his three combined efforts last season at Florida

DOUBLE-DIGITS FOR GRESHAM
• For the first time in his Husky career, Donnell Gresham played in a season opener and hit the double-digit scoring mark
• Sitting out the first half of the season last year after recovering from surgery, Gresham made his debut at NC State at the end of December where he tallied nine points in his debut
• In this season's debut, in the season opener, Gresham went 2-for-2 from behind the arc and 6-for-7 from the charity stripe to record 12 points, the first double-digit effort of his career
• Gresham followed up his season opening act with a 13-point effort at UConn hitting three treys, including what would be the game-winner down the stretch
