NORMAN, Okla. – A day after upsetting No. 30 Oklahoma, 3-2, on Opening Day, the Northeastern baseball team shocked the ranked Sooners a second time, earning a 5-3 victory during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. Oklahoma managed to salvage a split out of the afternoon, winning game two by a score of 10-4.

Northeastern (2-1) assured itself at least a split of this weekend's four-game series against the ranked Sooners, which concludes on Sunday at 2 p.m. EST. NU matched Oklahoma (1-2) in total hits on Saturday as both teams racked up 16 knocks apiece.

Pitchers Dustin Hunt and Andrew Misiaszek stole the show for the Huskies during game one, combining for eight strikeouts (four each) while tossing 4.2 and 4.1 innings, respectfully. Hunt never trailed during the contest, taking the mound for the first time after NU had scored three first-inning runs off Oklahoma's Alec Hansen, regarded by D1Baseball.com as the No. 2 MLB Draft prospect.

With the Huskies leading, 4-0, in the bottom of the fifth, Hunt fell victim to a two-out rally by the Sooners, whom finally scored on an RBI single by Thomas. Northeastern head coach Mike Glavine elected to relieve Hunt and bring in his freshman left-hander, Misiaszek, who struck out Walker to retire the side.

The Huskies remained patient in the batter's box during the opening half-inning as Pat Madigan and Cam Hanley reached base on a pair of two-out walks. Max Burt put Northeastern on the board with an RBI single up the middle, scoring Madigan from second and moving Hanley into scoring position.

Hansen continued to struggle with his command as the inning went on, walking Jake Farrell to load the bases and hitting Nick Fanneron with a pitch, giving NU a 2-0 lead. During the next at-bat, Burt flew home from third on a wild pitch, sending the Huskies in front, 3-0.

Northeastern upped its lead to 4-0 during the fourth when Madigan smacked a double to center, scoring Treff, who had reached on an error.

Oklahoma scored twice during the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Steele Walker and a single by Chris Andritsos. The Huskies added a run during the ninth an RBI single by Shane Allen.

Entering game two with a 2-0 lead in the series, NU raced out to a 1-0 lead as rookie Ryan Solomon delivered a two-out RBI single during the first inning. Jack Flansburg helped Oklahoma answer right back, though, troubling James Mulry into a walk and scoring on an RBI ground out by Sheldon Neuse.

The Huskies scooted in front, 2-1, on Solomon's second RBI base-hit of the game during the third. However, Oklahoma came charging back, capitalizing on a fielding error by Mason Koppens in center that allowed the tying run to score.

After tossing a one-two-three inning during the fifth, Mulry conceded a leadoff double to Alex Wise before being relieved by Brian Christian. Taking the mound with two runners on base, the Sooners rallied for five runs, scoring two on a double by Quin Walbergh and two more on Flansburg's first homer of the season.

Northeastern responded to Oklahoma's rally with two during the top of the seventh as Hanley and McConnell both walked in runs. The Huskies headed into the bottom of the eighth trailing by three, 7-4, but the Sooners tacked on three insurance runs to keep NU at bay.
