 InfographicNORMAN, Okla. – The No. 30 Oklahoma Sooners (2-2) scored six runs in the third inning to salvage a series split with the Northeastern baseball team (2-2) in a 13-4 decision on Sunday afternoon at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Freshman
Jake Farrell walked twice and drove in two runs for the Huskies, while junior
Cam Hanley went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. The Northeastern offense accounted for eight hits on the day, but stranded 16 runners on base, including at least one runner in all nine innings.Â

• Oklahoma responded with a run of its own in the bottom of the first when Alex Wise brought home Jack Flansburg on an RBI groundout to make it 2-1 Huskies.
• The Sooners tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second when Renae Martinez laid down a safety squeeze to score Kyle Mendenhall.
• Oklahoma sent 10 men to the plate and scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the third to claim an 8-2 lead. OU opened the frame with five straight singles and capped the inning with a two-out, two-RBI double by Hunter Southerland off reliever

• NU chipped away at the deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to make it 8-4 OU. Farrell picked up his second RBI of the day with a double to right to score

Josh Treff plated Hanley, who had previously reached on a single.
• Oklahoma reestablished its two-run lead in the sixth when Sheldon Neuse tallied his fourth single of the day to score Southerland, before a sac fly by Alex Wise increased the lead to 10-4.
• The Sooners tacked on another run in the seventh when pinch hitter Blake Brewster looped a single to left field to bring in Cade Harris.
• OU added two more runs in the eighth courtesy of a bases-loaded wild pitch and a bases-loaded walk to round out the scoring.
