Season StatsTOWSON, Md. – Down by four at the half, the Northeastern women's basketball team ran away from Towson during the final two quarters on Sunday afternoon as the Huskies won their sixth straight game, 81-63. With the victory, NU clinched a spot in the CAA quarterfinals, which will be held Thursday, March 10, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

Samantha DeFreese and
Francesca Sally were two of the six Huskies that finished with at least eight points against the Tigers. DeFreese scored a team high, 20 points, while Sally recorded the lone double-double of the game for either team, tallying 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Kazzidy Stewart notched a season high, 16 points, for Northeastern (14-14, 9-8 CAA), who returned to a .500 winning percentage for the first time since Dec. 21. Freshman
Jess Genco drained four 3-pointers for the third consecutive game, finishing with 12 points, six assists, and four rebounds.

Claudia Ortiz decorated her stat line with 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

As a team, the Huskies scored a season high, 81 points, shooting better than 50 percent from the floor for the second straight game, including a 58.6-percent shooting clip during the second half. Northeastern outscored Towson (6-22, 3-14 CAA), 41-19, during the final 20 minutes and outrebounded the Tigers, 41-26.
Northeastern snapped a nine-game road losing streak at Towson on Sunday, collecting its first victory since Feb. 8, 2001.

The Huskies will return to Cabot Center for Senior Day on Wednesday, March 2, at 7 p.m. when NU hosts Hofstra in the regular-season finale.
