InfographicHARRISONBURG, Va. – Twelve different Northeastern baseball players combined to scatter 29 hits against James Madison on Sunday afternoon as the Huskies routed the Dukes, 20-5, to earn their first CAA victory of the 2016 season.

The NU win wrapped up what was a historic series for both Northeastern (10-11, 1-2 CAA) and James Madison (11-13, 2-1 CAA), beginning with a 19-inning game on Friday and ending with an outpouring of offense by the Huskies on Sunday. Northeastern eclipsed the 20-run mark for just the 13th time in program history and first time since March 19, 2002 against Fairleigh Dickinson (W, 20-2).

Nine different NU players recorded multiple hits during the series finale, most notably
Pat Madigan (four-for-five) and
Max Burt (four-for-six), who combined to expose the Dukes' pitchers for eight hits, five runs, and five RBIs. Madigan also blasted a grand slam in the top of the fifth, boosting the Huskies' edge to well over 10 runs.

Dustin Hunt left the game at the start of the sixth with Northeastern leading comfortably, 18-3, having struck out seven and walked just one.

Tyler Brown helped NU coast the rest of the way, with Lippert and Brown combining for two scoreless frames.

SCORING PLAYS
Northeastern 1st –
Keith Kelly led off the game with a first-pitch double, two batters before Madigan reached with a walk.
Zach Perry creamed a three-run homer to right center, the first of his career, sending NU in front, 3-0.
Northeastern 2nd –
Josh Treff notched a one-out single, advanced to second on a 6-4 grounder by Kelly, and scored easily on
Charlie McConnell's RBI single.
James Madison 2nd - James Madison manufactured a run on three consecutive singles, cutting the Huskies' lead to 4-1.
Northeastern 4th – McConnell pegged a leadoff single and stole second before Madigan walked, ending Withers' day on the mound for JMU (3.0 IP). After Perry walked,
Jake Farrell singled through the right side, putting NU on top, 5-1.
Cam Walsh drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs to make it 6-1, before Treff laced a two-RBI single to center. Kelly reached on an infield single to load the bases again, leaving the door open for McConnell to knock a two-RBI base hit and give the Huskies a 10-1 advantage.
James Madison 4th – McPherson sent Hunt's first pitch of the fourth over the wall in left center to make it 10-2 and Adam Sisk ran the bases well for JMU, scoring on a wild pitch.
Northeastern 5th – Perry, Farrell, and Burt each singled to start the fifth, with Perry scoring on an error by the Dukes' catcher. Treff singled with the bases loaded (12-3) and Burt scored on an RBI groundout by Kelly (13-3). Madigan brought everyone home on a grand slam and Burt later doubled down the left-field line, completing an eight-run, seven-hit inning for the Huskies.
Northeastern 7th –
Mason Koppens singled with two runners in scoring position, scoring Madigan to make the NU lead, 19-3.
James Madison 7th – Three singles by the Dukes brought a runner in for JMU and McPherson's sacrifice fly to center allowed Tanner Dofflemyer to score the home team's fifth run.
Northeastern 9th –
Shane Allen hammered a solo shot to left, his first of the season, rounding out the Huskies' day with a nice even, 20 runs.
