BOSTON – With a chance to tie its longest winning streak of the 2016-17 season, the freight train that is the Northeastern women's basketball team will pull into College of Charleston on Friday, Feb. 24, as the Huskies look to claim their fourth consecutive victory during a 6:30 p.m. matchup against the Cougars. NU opened its current three-game winning streak with a 61-44 victory against Charleston on Feb. 12 at Cabot Center and last won four contests in a row between Dec. 20 and Jan. 6.

ALL-TIME AGAINST COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON

Upon Northeastern defeating College of Charleston, 61-44, on Feb. 12, NU took its first-ever lead in the all-time series at 4-3. The Huskies have won three straight head-to-head games against the Cougars dating back to Feb. 5, 2016, and are 2-1 when facing Charleston at TD Arena. With a victory on Friday night, Northeastern would earn its second consecutive regular-season sweep of the Cougars.

CAA TOURNEY RACE
Seeding discussed in this section includes the CAA's reversed results from Feb. 2. Records, per the CAA's ruling, do not. The top six seeds in the CAA tournament will enter the event in the quarterfinal round.

Entering the final three games of the regular season, Northeastern (6-9 CAA) finds itself in the thick of the race to grab one of the top six seeds in next month's CAA tournament March 8-11). Although the Huskies are currently ranked in a three-way tie with William & Mary and College of Charleston, the trio of which hold conference records of 6-9, NU would receive the No. 6 seed outright if the season ended today based on the CAA's Feb. 2 ruling (William & Mary would gain a winning, reversed result and be assumed 7-8, while College of Charleston would lose two reversed results and be assumed 4-11).

Northeastern also trails fourth-place Delaware by only two games with three to play and has a favorable league schedule to end the year. NU has combined to go 3-0 this season against its final three opponents: College of Charleston (W, 61-44), UNCW (W, 55-47), and Hofstra (W, 53-51, OT).

Here is a look at the bottom portion of the CAA standings entering Friday:

Seed School CAA Record Adjusted Record
No. 4 Delaware 8-7 8-7
No. 5 William & Mary 6-9 7-8
No. 6 Northeastern 6-9 6-9
No. 7 UNCW 4-11 5-10
No. 8 College of Charleston 6-9 4-11
Hofstra 4-11 4-11
Towson 4-11 4-11

LAST TIME OUT

• Northeastern completed the regular-season sweep of Towson on Feb. 19 at SECU Arena, fending off the Tigers' second-half charge to earn the 12-point victory, 63-51.

• Francesca Sally enjoyed a career afternoon for the Huskies. The six-foot-two senior center tied career highs in both scoring (24 points) and steals (four), hauling in 12 rebounds to achieve her 13th career double-double.

• Northeastern's Jess Genco, Claudia Ortiz, and Francesca Sally played the majority of the game, logging 40, 39, and 38 minutes, respectively. Genco will enter Friday night's game as the Division I leader in minutes per game, averaging 38.5 minutes of court time this season.

• The Huskies limited their opponent to fewer than 32 percent shooting for the third consecutive game.

HUSKIES ON THE ROAD

Northeastern is 4-8 this season in true road games and can earn its second straight victory as the visiting team.

COUGARS AT HOME

College of Charleston won five of its first six home CAA games to begin the conference season, despite the league reversing both the Cougars' Jan. 6 and Jan. 8 victories per its Feb. 2 ruling. Overall Charleston is 5-6 this season on its home floor.

UP NEXT

Northeastern will wrap up a three-game road stretch on Sunday, Feb. 26, at UNCW. Tipoff between the Huskies and the Seahawks is set for 2 p.m.
