2017 Northeastern Baseball Schedule
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Wednesday's baseball game between Northeastern and Hartford, originally scheduled to take place at the Hawks' Fiondella Field, has been postponed due to impending blizzard conditions projected to sweep through New England, as announced by the Hartford athletic department on Monday morning.
Â
At the present time, the game is awaiting a date for which it will be rescheduled.
Â
Northeastern (6-8) was projected to make its New England debut on Wednesday, March 15, upon returning from its week-long, seven-game stay in Port Charlotte, Florida, at the 2017 Snowbird Classic. There, the Huskies posted a 4-3 non-conference record, collecting victories against Chicago State, Central Michigan, Toledo, and Lehigh.
Â
NU shortstop
Max Burt was one of four players that started all seven games at the Snowbird Classic. Burt led the Huskies during the week with 15 hits, five extra-base knocks, and 13 runs, achieving the second highest batting average on the squad behind
Cam Walsh's .542 clip (13-for-24). Together, Northeastern's lineup combined to hit .357 during the tournament, recording 92 hits across 60 and two-thirds innings.
Â
Brian Christian and
Mike Fitzgerald were the only two NU pitchers to exceed 10 innings of work on the mound at the Snowbird Classic, combining to throw 15 and 13 strikeouts, respectively.
Â
The Huskies will now skip over Wednesday and head straight to Cincinnati on Friday, March 17, to begin a three-game, weekend set against the Bearcats at the 3,085-seat Marge Schott Stadium. First pitch between Northeastern and Cincinnati on March 17 is set for 5 p.m.
