2017 Northeastern Baseball Schedule
 
CINCINNATI – Friday's series opener between the Northeastern baseball team and Cincinnati, originally scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Marge Schott Stadium, has been postponed due to weather, as announced by the Cincinnati athletic department on Friday afternoon. The game will be rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, March 18, slated to start at 12 p.m. Game two will follow 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
 
Saturday's twin billing will be the third doubleheader Northeastern will experience during the 2017 season. This year, the Huskies are 3-1 in doubleheader games, having split a pair of contests against North Florida on Feb. 25 and more recently swept Chicago State and Central Michigan on March 5 at the 2017 Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida.
 
Friday's postponement is the second to plague Northeastern during the past week after the Huskies had their March 15 game against Hartford postponed indefinitely due to the arrival of winter storm Stella.
 
Mike Fitzgerald (1-1, 6.23 ERA) is projected to start game one of Saturday's doubleheader against the Bearcats. The veteran right-hander threw 10 and two-thirds innings across a pair of starts at the Snowbird Classic, striking out a career high, eight batters, against Ball State on March 4.
 
Like Fitzgerald, Kyle Murphy (0-1, 8.44 ERA) will make his fourth start of the season during game two of Saturday's doubleheader. Brian Christian (2-0, 4.05 ERA) will close out the series for the Huskies on Sunday coming off a career-high, 10-strikeout outing on March 11 against Lehigh during his inaugural start of the 2017 campaign.
