CAMDEN, N.J. – At the First Doc Hosea Invitational on Sunday, Northeastern women's rowing's Varsity Eight and 2
nd Varsity Eight finished third racing for the Orange Challenge Cup.

No. 18 Syracuse came away with the inaugural Doc Hosea Team Trophy, with the Huskies finishing second and Penn taking third.

Joe Wilhelm. "We had a good week of practice after the Murphy Cup and executed much better today. We will need another good week to prepare for Columbia next weekend."Â Â

The Varsity Eight, which finished with a time of 6:42.29 in the prelims, shaved seven seconds off of that time in the final to finish third behind Syracuse and Penn with a time of 6:35.19. It was a very close race with Syracuse taking a slight lead in the opening 500 meters and the Huskies holding a slight advantage over Penn.

The teams held positions through the middle 1000 meters, and in the final 500, Syracuse extended its lead in the sprint (6:30.4) while Penn (6:34.46) was able to overtake the Huskies in the final strokes for the second place finish.

Finishing behind the Huskies were Dartmouth (6:42.95), Navy (6:47.97) and Rhode Island (6:54.51).

The Huskies are back in action against Columbia in the Woodbury Cup next Saturday, April 8 in Ridgefield, N.J.
