FORT MYERS, Fla. – Cashing in for six runs against Missouri during the final two innings of Saturday's doubleheader opener at City of Palms Park, the Northeastern baseball team erased a 7-4 deficit to steal the first game of the twin-billing, 10-8, prior to receiving a 20-1 defeat from the Tigers during the session's second game.

Charlie McConnell drove in three of the Huskies' six late-game runs after going hitless during his first four at-bats of the day. McConnell singled
Kyle Peterson home during the top of the eighth inning to cut Missouri's lead to 7-6 prior to unloading the eventual game-winning, two-RBI double to left field that created the 10-8 score line.

Kyle Murphy tossed the final two and two-thirds innings of game one for Northeastern, following McConnell's ninth-inning heroics by sandwiching three infield groundouts around a two-out walk as the Huskies collected the program's first-ever win against an SEC opponent (11th try).

Northeastern received seven of its 13 hits from the heart of its batting order. Cleanup hitter
Jake Farrell went two-for-five, smacking a solo home run during the sixth inning that upped the Huskies' lead at the time to 4-2.
Max Burt and
Ryan Solomon hit fifth and sixth, respectively, for the Huskies, both notching run-producing doubles during Northeastern's three-run first inning.

Tyler Brown struck out seven Missouri batters, walked none, scattered five hits, and allowed only one earned run during six innings of work. Brown was relieved for with Northeastern leading, 4-2, at the seventh-inning stretch, but did not receive the decision as the Tigers rallied for five runs to take a 7-4 lead into the eighth inning.

The Huskies' doubleheader sweep was to no avail as Missouri bounced back to win game two, 20-1. Brian Sharp went five-for-five for the Tigers and registered nine RBIs, bookending Missouri's scoring with a three-run homer during the second inning and an eighth-inning grand slam.

Farrell notched two hits during game two, finishing the doubleheader with a four-for-nine outing at the plate.
Sam Jacobsak struck out three batters during four outs of middle relief.
