Cold weather cancels Sunday's NU baseball game

BOSTON – Sunday's 1 p.m. baseball game between Northeastern and Holy Cross, scheduled to take place at Friedman Diamond as the Huskies' 2018 home opener, has been cancelled due to anticipated cold weather, as announced by the Northeastern athletic department early Sunday morning.

Weather forecasts for Brookline had changed overnight to list game time temperatures at a high of 28 degrees with a feel of 17 degrees, in addition to winds ranging between 10 and 15 miles per hour.

Winter weather has continued to plague the arrival of Northeastern's 2018 home opener. The Huskies had originally been scheduled to open their home calendar on Tuesday, March 13, against Hartford prior to the arrival of Winter Storm Skylar. Sunday's cancellation follows Saturday's against Holy Cross; both games having been called on account of forecast cold weather and low wind chill.

As a result of Sunday's cancellation, Northeastern (9-5) is now scheduled to make its 2018 Friedman Diamond debut on Monday, March 19, at 2:30 p.m., when the Huskies host Hartford during a rescheduled game from March 13.
