BROOKLINE, Mass. – Led by leadoff man Charlie McConnell's three-for-three day at the plate on Sunday that included a career high, five stolen bases, the Northeastern baseball team won a quiet series finale against Towson, 2-1, at Friedman Diamond, notching its eighth consecutive victory while picking up its third CAA sweep out of five league sets this season.

McConnell batted three of the Huskies' four hits, which were the undercard to the team's 16 hits during Friday's 22-2 win and its 23 hits during Saturday's 23-6 victory. The junior speedster walked and stole two bases during the first inning before singling and stealing singular bases during the third, fifth, and seventh innings.

With his five steals on Sunday, McConnell has tied the program's single-season stolen base record (29), matching Aaron Barbosa's mark during the 2011 season.

Northeastern (26-13, 12-3 CAA) broke the game's scoreless tie during the bottom of the fourth inning. Max Burt drew a five-pitch walk off Alex Cuas to begin the frame, stealing second base before wisely taking third on Ryan Solomon's fly ball to center. Burt darted home on a passed ball during Scott Holzwaser's at-bat to put the Huskies in front, 1-0.

A game-day replacement for starter Sean Mellen, Brian Rodriguez delivered four and one-third controlled innings for Northeastern, striking out three batters while scattering the entirety of the Tigers' three hits. Rodriguez ended the second inning by retiring the first of eight consecutive hitters, but was responsible for the tying run that Towson (12-30, 5-10 CAA) scored during the fifth inning.

Upon Kyle Murphy relieving Rodriguez with one out and runners on first and second, Dirk Masters bunted a liner back to Murphy, who attempted to double-up Charlie Watters at first base, despite throwing the ball away. Murphy's errant throw forced the Huskies to intentionally walk Richie Palacios to load the bases, which was followed by a second walk to Billy Lennox that drove in the Tigers' tying run.

Northeastern reclaimed the lead immediately during the bottom of the fifth inning as McConnell and Ian Fair connected on back-to-back singles. Fair's single scored McConnell from second base, in addition to extending his program-record hitting streak to 21 consecutive games and keeping his 24-game on-base streak in tact.

Andrew Misiaszek threw two hitless innings to secure the three-game sweep for the Huskies, picking up his seventh save of the season in the process.

With Sunday's victory, Northeastern concluded a historic weekend at Friedman Diamond. The Huskies outscored Towson by a combined, 47-9, setting the program record for most runs scored during a three-game series, in addition to equaling the program record for most runs scored during any multi-game series (four-game sweep of NYIT during 2017). Max Burt also exited the series as the seventh member of Northeastern's 200-hit club.
