BOSTON – Coming out of one its greatest offensive series to date, the Northeastern baseball team will put its eight-game winning streak on the line at Friedman Diamond this week, when the Huskies host a pair of midweek games that feature the challenging New England opponents of UMass Lowell (Tuesday, May 1) and Bryant (Wednesday, May 2). Both games are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

Receiving votes: Harvard, Boston College

Monday's sixth weekly release of the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Division I regional poll again slotted Northeastern as the No. 2 team behind Connecticut for the sixth consecutive week, although NU did manage to earn at least one first-place vote for the second straight week and third time this season. Northeastern, which is 6-1 against New England opponents this year, is scheduled to host UConn on Wednesday, May 9, at Friedman Diamond during a projected top-30 RPI matchup.

NEW ENGLAND TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS

Northeastern maintained its top-two position within Monday's latest release of the New England Baseball Journal regional Division I power rankings. The Huskies debuted in the outlet's preseason rankings at No. 5 and has since ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 during every week since Feb. 26, including three straight No. 1 rankings from March 5 to March 19.

ALL-TIME AGAINST UMASS LOWELL

NU leads the all-time series against UMass Lowell, 20-7. The Huskies are 14-5 when playing the River Hawks at home. Northeastern has also won two of the teams' three head-to-head meetings since UMass Lowell's began its Division I reclassification process prior to the 2013-14 scholastic year.

ALL-TIME AGAINST BRYANT
NEBJ Division I Power Rankings
April 30, 2018
Rk School Record
1. Connecticut 25-13-1
2. Northeastern 26-13
3. Bryant 26-16-1
4. Yale 20-17
5. UMass Lowell 18-22
6. Quinnipiac 18-20
7. Boston College 15-28
8. Harvard 20-19
9. Rhode Island 15-25
10. Hartford 16-25

Northeastern trails Bryant, 9-3, in the all-time series. The Huskies' two home wins against the Bulldogs occurred during the two programs' inaugural 2008 meeting at Friedman Diamond and their first of three alternating-venue games during March 2010.

RECORD WATCH

• Charlie McConnell (29 stolen bases) needs one stolen base to break his tie with Aaron Barbosa (2011) for the Northeastern single-season record. McConnell enters the week two stolen bases shy of breaking Barbosa's career stolen-base record at Northeastern (69).

• Max Burt is the only player in program history to make at least 200 career appearances and record 200 or more hits. Burt, who continues to ride a career-opening streak of 206 consecutive games played, is 12 hits shy of tying Michael Foster (212 career hits) for sixth place on the Huskies' all-time hits list.

• Andrew Misiaszek (seven saves) needs four saves to tie Michael Fitzgerald's single-season record (11), set during the 2016 season.

• Ian Fair continues to ride the program's longest hitting streak, which enters the week at 21 consecutive games. Fair is also in possession of an active 24-game on-base streak, which ranks as the longest by a Northeastern player since Pat Madigan's 27-game streak during the 2015 season.

RPI RULERS

Despite securing a pair of lopsided victories against Towson en route to picking up its third sweep out of five CAA sets this season, Northeastern dropped nine positions in the RPI, largely in part to the Tigers' RPI ranking outside the top 250. This week's non-conference opponents offer the Huskies an opportunity to remain within the RPI top 30, especially Bryant, which ranks fourth among New England teams in RPI (No. 90).

Northeastern is 10-11 this season against RPI top-100 programs, which includes a four-game series against Texas Tech (No. 3), a series-finale win against Auburn (No. 6), a four-game series split against Missouri (No. 24), and two victories against Creighton (No. 54).

UP NEXT

Northeastern will make its shortest road trip of its CAA season this weekend, when the Huskies open a three-game league series at Hofstra on Friday, May 4.
