Women's Results
AMHERST, Mass. – The Northeastern women's track and field team recorded 11 top-five and 17 top-10 finishes at the Minuteman Invitational in Amherst, Massachusetts on Saturday.
For the women, the throwers led the way for the Huskies, earning top spots in three different events. Sophomore
Leeyan Redwood took first place in the discus (41.15m), while also earning third place in the shot put (13.03m).
Junior
Priscilla Senoo captured second place in the both the shot put (13.40m) and the discus (41.10m). In the hammer throw, sophomore
Erica Belvit earned first place with a mark of 55.58m, while junior
Lauren Swanson took third (49.56m).
Seniors
Corinne Myers and
Amy Piccolo both recorded two top-10 finishes on the day in the 200 and 400 meter. Piccolo took second in the 400 meter (57.75) and sixth in the 200 meter (26.55), while Myers placed third in the 400 meter (58.05) and seventh in the 200 meter (26.00).
Redshirt junior
Sarah Adler also took fourth in the 400 meter with a time of 59.48, and freshman
Kelsey Walak secured second in the 800 (2:21.23).
In the 3000 meter steeplechase, senior
Madeline Bradford and junior
Camila Cortina finished fourth (11:42.27) and sixth (11:52.12), respectively.
On the men's side, the Huskies took home 11 top-five finishes and 15 top-10 finishes at the meet. Senior
Jay Navin and freshman
Jonathan Prus took the first and fifth spots, respectively, in the 1500 meter, while
Eric Clay took seventh in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
Northeastern took the top four spots in the men's shot put, with senior
Ryan Kim leading the way with a mark of 17.07 meters. Senior
Eric Mellusi took the top spot in the discus, with a throw of 51.09 meters.
