2018 Jr. NBA Coach of the Year semifinalists
BOSTON – Northeastern women's basketball alumna Kash Cannon (Class of 2013) has been named one of eight national semifinalists for 2018 Jr. NBA Coach of the Year, as revealed on Monday by the Jr. NBA and the Positive Coaching Alliance.
Â
The Jr. NBA Coach of the Year award is presented annually to the youth basketball coach in an NBA or WNBA team market who is making a positive impact on children by demonstrating outstanding integrity, character, and leadership. Cannon had received the Boston Celtics' nomination for her role as the program director at Shooting Touch: G3 (Getting Girls in the Game) and was chosen as a semifinalist by the Jr. NBA and Positive Coaching Alliance upon the completion of the award's initial screening process.
Â
As a semifinalist, Cannon is now in the running to be named one of the award's three finalists, who will each be presented with a financial grant to support their local youth basketball organizations. Each finalist will receive additional benefits, including free Positive Coaching Alliance training, basketball equipment, and apparel. All three finalists will also receive an all-expense paid trip to Chicago, where the Coach of the Year winner will be announced and honored in May at the Jr. NBA Youth Basketball Leadership Conference.
Â
Fan voting, exclusively on Twitter, is one component that factors into how the award's three finalists are selected and will parallel the screening made by an executive panel of judges. From April 9 through April 18, fans may vote for Cannon under the following rules:
Â
