NEWARK, Del. – Upon earning his record-setting, 12th save of the season, junior closer Andrew Misiaszek put the cap on the Northeastern baseball team's 5-2 victory against Delaware on Friday at Bob Hannah Stadium as the Huskies clinched their second consecutive outright CAA regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed in next week's conference tournament.

Misiaszek struck out two of the three batters he faced en route to picking up his ninth-inning save, which broke his tie with Mike Fitzgerald (2016) atop the program's single-season saves list. On Friday, the left-hander successfully defended the work of Tyler Brown and Kyle Murphy, the former of whom earned the win, lasting five innings while scattering five hits, striking out two batters, and surrendering both of the Blue Hens' runs.

With the victory, Northeastern (33-17, 17-6 CAA) becomes the first CAA program to win back-to-back, outright regular-season titles since UNCW did so during the 2012 and 2013 campaigns. The Huskies are also guaranteed to finish the year with their highest CAA winning percentage to date.

NU conceded the game's first run during the bottom of the second inning as Delaware (29-25, 12-11 CAA) took a 1-0 lead with Austin Niggebrugge's RBI double down the left field line. Brown battled back to stifle the one-out rally, inducing consecutive outs to strand both Niggebrugge and Jordan Hutchins in scoring position.

Northeastern took advantage of two errors by the Blue Hens to plate three runs during the top of the fourth inning. With Kyle Peterson aboard following a leadoff walk, Ryan Solomon reached safely as Niggebrugge's throw from third sailed wide of the bag, prompting Peterson and Solomon to both take extra bases.

John Mazza singled Peterson home to knot the game at 1-1, three batters before a second Delaware error on a hard-hit ball by Ian Fair resulted in two more runs for the Huskies, forcing the Blue Hens to replace their freshman starter, Billy Sullivan IV, after just three and two-thirds innings pitched.

Delaware fought back to chip a run off Northeastern's fifth-inning lead, closing the score to 3-2 with Kyle Baker's RBI double that had followed Erik Bowren's leadoff single.

NU regained its two-run advantage during the seventh inning. Jake Farrell opened the inning with his 13th double of the season, tagging on Scott Holzwasser's ensuing fly ball to right field and scoring on Max Burt's RBI single to left field.

Burt went on to swing another RBI hit during the top of the ninth inning, finishing as one of the Huskies' three multi-hit bats.
