BROOKLINE, Mass. –
Dan Munch's golden header off
Harry Swartz's cross with 59 seconds remaining in double overtime capped a wild concluding sequence on Tuesday night at Parsons Field as the Huskies stole three non-conference points from Holy Cross with their 1-0, extra-time victory.
Â
With the match nearing its final minute,
Stach Jaran unloaded a rocket from the top of Northeastern's 18-yard box, ringing the left corner of the crossbar while the ensuing deflection came into
Harry Swartz's possession on the left side. Curling inside the sideline, Swartz right-footed his entry cross to the edge of the six-yard box, where Munch read it perfectly, heading it to the back post for his first career match-winner.
Â
Northeastern (2-4-0) sported a 10-7 advantage in total attempts during regulation prior to outgaining Holy Cross (0-3-3), 5-2, during extra time. The Huskies' back line prevented the bulk of the Crusaders' scoring chances while
Noah Abrams was credited with two saves, keeping his second career clean sheet.
Â
Munch's golden goal on Tuesday marked the sophomore's first during his last seven appearances (Oct. 24, 2017, against Vermont). Swartz collected his second assist of the 2018 campaign, upping his career count to five, which ties
Moustapha Samb as the Huskies' active career leader.
