BROOKLINE, Mass. – With
Ryan Massoud's fourth goal of the season drawing the Northeastern men's soccer team level with New Hampshire midway through the second half on Monday, the Huskies appeared to be on course to stage a late match-winner, despite Antonio Colacci netting his second goal of the day during the 87th minute as the Wildcats stole the 2-1 result at Parsons Field.
Â
Playing a goal down for nearly an hour, Northeastern (1-3-0) caught second life during the 67th minute, when
Adama Kaba lofted a cross from the right sideline to the far left post, where Massoud directed the equalizing header. Upon scoring, the freshman from Arnprior, Ontatio, has now accounted for four of the Huskies' five field goals through four matches this season.
Â
Colacci provided New Hampshire (3-1-0) with the early lead during the ninth minute, when his 25-yard attempt took a deflection at the top of the 18-yard box, steering away from
Noah Abrams yet navigating through the right post.
Â
With four minutes remaining in regulation, Colacci came through again for the Wildcats, right-footing Jack Doherty's pass while beating Abrams to the pocket from 10 yards away.
Â
Northeastern outshot New Hampshire, 10-8, during the second half, where the Huskies have scored all six of their goals this season.
