BOSTON -- The Northeastern track and field teams had a busy few days this weekend with participants in three separate meets, recording 20 personal bests (nine on the men's side, 11 on the women's side) and six performances that rank in the top ten all time at Northeastern.
Most notably,
Erica Belvit and
Monae Cooper competed in the weight throw at the 112th NYRR Millrose Games on Thursday. The Millrose games are the longest-running and most prestigious indoor track and field competition, and both women earned top-five scores for the Huskies. Belvit and Cooper placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with throws of 19.09m and 17.45m.
Cameron Dickson (3000-meter),
Alexander Korczynski (3000-meter),
Dan Romano (3000-meter),
Melissa Fairchild (mile),
Sydney Salas (5000-meter) and
Louiza Wise (3000-meter) all entered the top-ten all-time at Northeastern with their performances over the weekend.
At the Valentine Invitational, the men finished with six top-ten results, highlighted by
Naukym Morton's first-place finish (6.85) in the 60m dash.
Spencer McKeough (16.50m) and Andrew Canistracci (16.24m) earned second and third, respectively, in the shot put as well.
At the same event, the women compiled nine personal bests and three top-five finishes.
Paige Suse placed fourth in the high jump (1.70m), while
Leeyan Redwood and
Priscilla Senoo placed third and fourth in the shot put with distances of 14.29m each.
The women also sent participants to the URI Tribute to Bill Falk. There, they found much success, to the tune of 11 top-five finishes.Â
Sidney Fisher finished third in the 60m (7.94) and 15th in the 200m (27.07), putting in an impressive showing.
Leah Saifi (3.55m) and
Melissa Purcell (3.55m) took second and third place in the pole vault, joining
Paige Suse,
Hannah Meredith, and
Zoe Taitel as the other top-three placers on the day.
Suse's 1.66m high jump earned her second, and Taitel's 13.27m performance ranked third.
Meredith, a freshman, competed in the triple jump for the first time in her collegiate career and came away with an impressive second-place distance of 11.16m.
Next up: Both the men and women will travel to Providence for the Brown University Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 16.
