BOSTON – After leading the team with 36 points as one of the top defensemen in college hockey in 2018-19, Jeremy Davies will forgo his senior season and sign a two-year entry level contract with the New Jersey Devils starting with the 2019-20 season.
 
"Jeremy Davies established himself as one of the top defensemen in team history, and one of the NCAA's elite blueliners, during his three years at Northeastern," said Fernie Flaman Men's Hockey Coach Jim Madigan. "He is an NHL caliber talent who played a pivotal role in our Beanpot titles, Hockey East championship and two trips to the NCAA tournament, and we'll miss him on our blueline next season. We look forward to watching him as a professional, wish him the best and thank him for his contributions to Northeastern Hockey." 
 
Davies posted eight goals and 28 assists this season, good for seventh in the NCAA in points from defensemen, becoming the first defenseman to lead Northeastern in scoring since Jim Fahey in 2001-02. He was a Hobey Baker candidate, the HCA National Player of the Month in February, a Hockey East First Team All-Star and named to the Hockey East All-Tournament Team. Earlier in the season, he became the first Northeastern blueliner since Dan McGillis (1994-95, 1995-96) to record 30 points in consecutive seasons

His vision, skill, competitiveness, character and leadership helped Northeastern become one of the top echelon schools in the country during his time there. We also want to thank Jim Madigan and his staff at Northeastern for Jeremy's development these past three years."
 
Davies was an All-American in 2017-18 after leading Hockey East and was tied for fifth in the NCAA in scoring among defensemen with 35 points (six goals, 29 assists) while averaging nearly 28 minutes of ice time per game playing in all situations for the Huskies. He was also third in the NCAA among defenseman with 0.97 points per game. Davies was also the first Northeastern blueliner to earn Hockey East First Team All-Star and All-American status since Fahey in 2001-02.Davies also played with Team Canada at the Spengler Cup that season.
 
He finishes with career with 94 points on 22 goals and 72 assists, six points shy of becoming the sixth defenseman in team history to reach 100 career points.
 
Davies was New Jersey's ninth selection (seventh round), 192nd overall, in the 2016 NHL Draft.
