BOSTON – In pursuit of its first-ever CAA postseason championship, the fourth-seeded Northeastern baseball team will open its stay at the double-elimination CAA tournament on Wednesday, May 22, when the Huskies cross paths with fifth-seeded UNCW during a rematch of last year's title round.

HUSKIES IN THE CAA TOURNEY
• Northeastern is making its seventh consecutive CAA tournament appearance during 2019 – the second longest active streak among the current conference membership (UNCW – 34).
• The Huskies ended the 2019 regular season in a three-way tie for third place, marking their fourth top-three finish under the leadership of fifth-year head coach Mike Glavine. NU earned the No. 4 seed courtesy of its 3-3 combined head-to-head record against UNCW (1-2) and William & Mary (2-1).

FAB FOUR
• The CAA tournament's No. 4 seed has won two consecutive postseason titles (2017 - Delaware, 2018 - UNCW).

POSTSEASON RIVALS
• Northeastern and UNCW have contested five CAA tournament games since 2015 – the most among any two-team pairing during that stretch.

2018 CAA TITLE ROUND REMATCH
• Northeastern and UNCW opposed each other three times during the 2018 CAA tournament, including twice during the championship round.
• The top-seeded Huskies were defeated, 9-2, during the winner's bracket semifinals, but won two elimination games to earn the right to square off against the Seahawks for the league title. NU won the first championship game, 3-2, to force the winner-take-all second title game, during which UNCW prevailed, 7-4.
• Kyle Murphy fired seven strikeouts across six innings during the championship round opener while Brandon Dufault defended Northeastern's one-run lead, earning the win with his three scoreless relief innings. Jake Farrell hit the two-run homer for the Huskies that put NU in front, 2-1, during the third inning.
• During the tournament's decisive game, Ryan Solomon connected on the sixth-inning, leadoff homer that brought Northeastern within a run of UNCW at 5-4. However, the Seahawks tacked on two insurance runs to hoist the crown.

ALL-TIME SERIES
• Northeastern trails its all-time series against UNCW, 31-13-1.
• The Huskies lost their 2019 regular season series against the Seahawks, 2-1. After dropping Friday's series opener (7-4), Northeastern erased its 3-0 deficit with its three-run seventh inning, despite Sean Mellen pitching to the complete-game defeat. The Huskies won the series finale, 5-4, in 12 innings, scoring three unanswered runs after the sixth inning.
