Zach Solow Inks Contract with Milwaukee Admirals

MILWAUKEE - Northeastern's Zach Solow has signed a contract with the Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators) of the American Hockey League (AHL) for the 2021-22 season, announced by the organization on Saturday. Solow, a native of Naples, Fla., is a four-year letterwinner for the Huskies who served as captain last season and was a huge part of three straight Beanpot championships and one Hockey East championship.

Earlier in the week, Solow signed an amateur tryout contract with the Chicago Wolves (AHL) and will make his professional debut Saturday night due to the Admirals being inactive after opting out of the 2020-21 season.

"Zach is one of the better forwards and captains that we have had at Northeastern," said Fernie Flaman Head Men's Hockey Coach Jim Madigan. "From the minute he stepped on campus as a freshman, he conducted himself as a leader and true professional, on and off the ice. He helped take our program to unprecedented heights including three straight Beanpot championships, a Hockey East championship and two NCAA tournament appearances. We are excited for him to take the next step in his hockey career and we wish him and his family nothing but the best."

The 2021 Hockey East Second-Team All-Star, 2020 Beanpot MVP and a member of the 2019 Hockey East All-Tournament Team was the 53rd player in Northeastern history to reach 100 points earlier this season. He ended his NU career with 44 goals and 60 assists in 132 games including a goal in each Beanpot game in 2020 and the game-winning goal in the Hockey East semifinals against Boston University in 2019.

"I'm real thankful for the opportunity to learn from some of the best and to play at the next level," said Solow. "I'm also thankful for my time at Northeastern and how it's helped me get ready and prepared for this. It's been a long journey and I'm very excited to start my pro career."

Solow, who led the Huskies in 2020-21 with 11 goals and 13 assists, was named a semifinalist for the 69th annual Walter Brown Award (story) this season, plus named to the 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-Americans team.

He is the eighth player from the 2020 Beanpot Championship team to sign a professional contract. Ryan Shea signed with the Dallas Stars of the NHL (story here), Matt Filipe signed with the Boston Bruins of the NHL (story here), Tyler Madden signed with the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL (story here), Michael Kesselring signed with the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL (story here), Biagio Lerario signed with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL (story here), Brendan van Riemsdyk signed with the Reading Royals of the ECHL (story here) and Craig Pantano signed with the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL (story here).
