Northeastern Earns No. 1 seed at CAA Baseball Championship

RICHMOND, Va.
- Northeastern cruised to a 20-3 record to win the Colonial Athletic Association North Division and capture the No. 1 overall seed for the 2021 CAA Baseball Championship in Wilmington, N.C., May 26-30, at Brooks Field. The Huskies won a school record 20 consecutive games from April 7-May 15, and their 18-0 start to the conference season is a CAA record. UNCW won the CAA South Division with a record of 13-8.

Northeastern receives a bye in the first round and will face the lowest remaining seed on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the winner's bracket of the double-elimination CAA tournament. Following the Huskies in the rankings are No. 2 seed UNCW (30-20, 13-8), No. 3 seed Elon (21-20, 10-8), No. 4 seed Charleston (24-23, 12-12), No. 5 seed Towson (21-34, 11-12) and No. 6 seed William & Mary (13-27, 10-14). Game one on Wednesday will feature No. 4 Charleston against No. 5 Towson at Noon, and game two will be No. 3 Elon against No. 6 William & Mary at 4 p.m.

The Huskies lead the CAA in batting (.299), pitching (2.95 ERA) and fielding percentage (.981). Northeastern ranks in the top-five nationally in several categories, including No. 3 in WHIP (1.11) and stolen bases per game (2.65), No. 4 in win-loss percentage (.780) and ERA, and No. 5 in hits allowed per game (6.85). NU's 20-game winning streak is the longest in the NCAA this season, and the Huskies rank 40th in the latest RPI rankings.
