  FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - No. 3 seed Northeastern (36-11) will play No. 4 seed NJIT (26-23) in an elimination game at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional from Baum-Walker Stadium on Saturday. First pitch against the Highlanders will be at 3 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed on ESPN3 and air on WRBB 104.9 FM. The winner will play the loser of No. 1 [1] Arkansas and No. 19 [2] Nebraska at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday.

FAYETTEVILLE REGIONAL
Max Viera went 3-for-5 with a double and drove in a run, while Ian Fair and Jared Dupere each drove in two runs to lead Northeastern in an 8-6 defeat to No. 19 Nebraska (32-12) on Friday night in their opening game at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional (story).

NORTHEASTERN AT THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The Huskies are making their ninth NCAA Tournament appearance and second under head coach Mike Glavine (2018, at-large). Northeastern is 6-17 all-time in the tournament with their last appearance coming in 2018 at the Raleigh Regional, falling to No. 2 seed Auburn (13-4) and No. 1 seed NC State (9-3). 

POWER SURGE
Jared Dupere leads the CAA with a .794 slugging percentage, 59 runs scored and leads the country with 0.45 home runs per game (21). He was named CAA Player of the Year becoming just the second Northeastern player to earn the distinction since 2006. His .349 batting average ranks seventh in the CAA and his 50 RBIs ranks second in the conference. He broke the single-season school record with 21 home runs this season.

CAA CHAMPIONS
The Huskies won the CAA North Division Title and CAA tournament title for the first time in school history. Northeastern smashed 12 home runs and scored 37 runs over five games at the conference tournament. Ben Malgeri tied the championship game in the bottom of the ninth inning with his second home run of the game off CAA Pitcher of the Year Landen Roupp, and Max Viera hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lead top-seeded Northeastern to its first-ever CAA Tournament Championship, 11-10, in 10 innings over No. 2 seed UNCW (32-22) on Sunday at Brooks Field. Right-handed pitcher Brian Rodriguez (3-0) earned the win in relief, retiring 6-of-7 batters faced in 2.0 scoreless innings.

SCOUTING NJIT
No. 4 seeded NJIT comes into the game after falling 13-8 to No. 1 [1] Arkansas on Friday. The Highlanders are led by Julio Marcano who has batted .329 with 10 home runs and 42 RBIs. Albert Choi and Daniel Helfgott each has hit .309 this season. Northeastern leads the series 1-0 after the Huskies beat the Highlanders 5-4 in 14 innings on March 15, 2009 during the Strike Out Cancer Tournament.
