A Look Back: Track & Field Season in Review

BOSTON — Northeastern's track and field teams both had impressive seasons with multiple individuals setting school records and qualifying for the NCAA Championships and Preliminaries. The Huskies had a strong showing at the CAA Championships, with the men's team winning their sixth consecutive and the women's team finishing fourth.

MEN'S TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
  • Won their sixth CAA Track and Field Championship, finishing with 291 points
  • Head Coach Tramaine Shaw won her third CAA Men's Track and Field Coach of the Year award
  • David Adams was named 2021 CAA Most Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet after winning four gold medals and sweeping the 110- and 400-meter hurdles
  • Adams broke the school record with a 50.85 time in the 400 hurdles at the NCAA East Preliminary
  • Adams went on to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships and finished 14th in the 400-meter hurdles
  • Cam Dickson ran a CAA Championship Meet Record and PR (29:55.50) to win his first CAA Title and also finished second in the 5000-meter (14:15.91)
  • Dickson finished second at the IC4A Championships in the 10,000-metter with a PR, second All-Time and NCAA preliminary round qualifying mark of 30:24.94
  • Alexander Korczynski won the 3000-meter steeplechase and set a CAA Championship meet record with a time of 8:49.71 to win it
  • Korczynski qualified for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships with personal-best 3000-meter steeplechase time of 8:44.46, second all-time at Northeastern
  • Dickson earned All-American honors in addition to the CAA Leadership and Sports Excellence Award
  • Adams and Korczynski both earned USTFCCCA All-America Honors
  • Adams, Naukym Morton, Dametrius O'Connor and Brandon Moorer won the 4x100 relay and Adams, Moorer, Mayowa Osunsami and Pierre Sylvain won the 4x400 relay at the CAA Championships
  • Donatien Djero, O'Connor and Morton earned first, second and third place finishes, respectively, in the 100-meter dash at the CAA Championships
  • Bryan Keller finished first in the 1500 meters at the CAA Championships with a personal-best time of 3:49.13

WOMEN'S TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
  • Finished fourth at the CAA Championships with 97 points
  • Dominique Biron was named the 2021 CAA Most Outstanding Field Athlete at the CAA Championships after winning the heptathlon with 5,136 points
  • Erica Belvit earned All-CAA honors and finished 15th in the women's hammer throw at the NCAA East Preliminaries, throwing 204 feet, 10 inches
  • Belvit won gold at the Jamaican National Championships with a hammer throw of 217 feet, 8 inches
  • Belvit broke the school record in the hammer throw at the UConn Invitational with a throw of 219 feet, 7 inches
  • Biron broke the school record in the heptathlon at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, finishing first with a school record of 5,336 points and qualified for the NCAA East Preliminaries
  • Tessa McClain earned All-CAA Honors for the 1500 meters, finishing third at the CAA Championships and set the school record for the mile with time of 4:52.07
  • Michelle Nkoudou won gold in the 100-meter hurdles at the CAA Championships and was named to the All-CAA team
  • Leeyan Redwood earned All-CAA honors in the shot put, finishing third at the CAA Championships with a distance of 44 feet, 11.75 inches
  • Madison Neuner earned bronze in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the IC4A/ECAC Championships and Abigail Hassman earned bronze in the 5000 meters
