Northeastern Men and Women Earn USTFCCCA Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS – The Northeastern men's and women's cross country teams enter the season as No. 7 and No. 11 in the 2021 preseason USTFCCCA Northeast Regional Rankings, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday. 
 
During the spring 2021 season, the men's cross country team won the CAA Championship title, their first conference victory since the 1988 America East Championships, behind the efforts of Alexander Korczynski and Cameron Dickson who crossed the finish line in second and third. The women's team finished in second in the women's 6K for the first time in program's history and were led by Tessa McClain who earned a sixth-place finish. 
 
SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
  • Matt Lonergan was named as the 2021 CAA Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year
  • Max Spencer was named as the 2021 CAA Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Year
  • Seven members of the men's cross country team earned All-CAA Team Honors
  • Cameron Dickson ran the fasted 8K time in Northeastern History at the CAA XC Preview
  • Tessa McClain earned 2021 All-CAA Team Honors in debut season with the Huskies
  • Abigail Hassman and Juliet Bussell finished in the top 20 for Northeastern at the 2021 CAA Championships
 The men's and women's cross country teams open their season with meet against Vermont, UMass Amherst and UMass Lowell on Saturday, Sept. 4. The women's race will begin at 12 p.m. and the men will start at 12:45 p.m.
