GLOUCESTER Mass. - Northeastern University sophomore goaltender
Devon Levi was named to the 2022 Mike Richter Award watch list, the Hockey Commissioner's Association (HCA) announced Thursday. The Mike Richter Award is given out to the top NCAA goalie of each season.
Levi has been the NCAA's top netminder this season with a .955 save percentage and nine shutouts, leading the country in both stats. His goals-against average sits at 1.31, third-best in the NCAA and best in Hockey East. Levi has allowed just 29 goals in 22 games played. His record on the season stands at 16-5-1. His nine shutouts breaks the old program record for single-season shutouts (6) and is close to the program record for career shutouts (11).
Levi has received six Hockey East weekly awards this season, along with two monthly awards and one national monthly award from the Hockey Commissioner's Association. Levi is one of seven Hockey East goaltenders on the watch list.
A Northeastern goaltender has claimed the award just one time since its inception in 2014, with Cayden Primeau winning the award in the 2018-2019 season. Primeau finished that season with a 25-10-1 record, posting .933 save%, 2.09 GAA, and notching four shutouts.
