BOSTON — The No. 18 Northeastern Huskies are headed to Nashville, Tenn. this week for a Thanksgiving holiday contest at the 2022 Music City Hockey Classic. Northeastern will face off against the No. 15 Western Michigan Broncos on Friday, Nov. 25 at Bridgestone Arena, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- BATTLING THE BRONCOS: Previously, the two teams have matched up six times in program history. Northeastern leads the all-time series with the Broncos by a 3-2-1 record, outscoring Western Michigan 20-17. Between the two programs, five players are ranked among the top ten leading scorers in the nation. Ryan McAllister (WMU) leads the NCAA with 26 points, tied for third is Jason Polin (WMU) with 20 points, following both tied for sixth is Aidan McDonough (NU) and Max Sasson (WMU) with 18 points and rounded out by Justin Hryckowian with 17 points to tie for tenth overall.
- GUNNIN' FOR THE TOP: Gunnarwolfe Fontaine has been on quite a hot streak lately for the Northeastern Huskies, coming off a two-point weekend (1g, 1a) against the Terriers. As the Huskies head into their holiday road trip, Fontaine currently holds the longest point streak of the season for Northeastern with eight points in the last seven games. The Nashville Predators draft pick had tallied five goals and a team-high 11 assists so far this season.
- MASTER LEVI: In game one with the Boston University Terriers, goaltender Devon Levi claimed his second career shutout at Agganis Arena and his third of the season. Earlier this season, Levi set a new program record with 12 career shutouts on the road against New Hampshire. His three shutouts of the 2022-23 season rank third in the nation, while he also ranks third among all active career leaders in the NCAA with 13 shutouts.
