BOSTON - The Northeastern baseball program has announced its full schedule for the 2023 spring season, including 24 chances to see the Huskies at home at Friedman Diamond in Brookline, and some historic non-conference match ups throughout the season. The Huskies, who are coming off back-to-back CAA Championship game appearances, and three in the last four tournaments, look to continue their success on a streak of seven straight winning seasons under head coach
Mike Glavine.
The Huskies begin the 2023 campaign on the road for the opening four weekends of play, including non-conference series with UNC-Greensboro (Feb. 17-19), Indiana State at the Snowbird Classic (Feb. 25 & 26), and South Florida (March 3-5). Also in that stretch, the Huskies return to Fort Myers to face the Red Sox at JetBlue park (Feb. 24), after last season's exhibition game between the two teams was canceled. Northeastern wraps up the road stint with a trip to North Carolina to face Duke in a midweek match up in Durham (March 8), followed by its first CAA series of the year at Elon the following weekend (March 10-12). The opening weekends feature three program-first match ups for the Huskies, who will play their first ever games against UNCG, Indiana State, and Duke.Â
The Huskies return home for their home opener on March 14, a mid-week, non-conference contest against the Bryant Bulldogs at 3 p.m. at Friedman Diamond. That game is set to kick off nine straight home games in the month of March, with CAA newcomers North Carolina A&T visiting that following weekend for a conference series Friday through Sunday. That home stand also features midweeks against Boston College (March 21, 3 p.m.), Merrimack (March 22, 3 p.m.), and Rhode Island (March 29, 3 p.m.), and a non-conference weekend series with Hartford, including a Saturday doubleheader on March 25.
In April, Northeastern hosts its first round match up of the 2023 Baseball Beanpot, welcoming the Harvard Crimson to Friedman Diamond on April 4th at 3 p.m. It'll be the first Beanpot game in Brookline since the 2018 Championship game. The second round of the Beanpot is slated for April 11. The Huskies' also host CAA weekend series with Delaware (April 7-9), Hofstra (April 21-23) and Towson (April 28-30) in the month of April.Â
The Huskies begin May with a long stint of road games, including another first-time non-conference match up at Maryland (May 9). Northeastern returns home for one last week at Friedman starting May 16th, hosting non-conference foe UMass Lowell (3 p.m.) followed by the regular season finale series against College of Charleston (May 18-20).Â
The 2023 CAA Baseball tournament is scheduled for May 24-27, hosted by the College of Charleston in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.Â
