RICHMOND, Va. – Graduate student and Willimantic, Conn., native
Alexander Korczynski was named CAA Men's Runner of the Year, the league announced today, Dec. 2. This is the second consecutive season that Korczynski has earned the honor.
Korczynski advanced the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla., becoming the first Husky to do so since the 2014 season.
- The graduate student had a fall season to remember, racking up three wins and defending his CAA championship crown. Korczynski took the CAA title for the second consecutive season, running a time of 24:09.60 to complete the feat.
- In his first race this season at the Suffolk Short Course Classic, Korczynski ran to a first-place finish with a time of 15:07.7 in the 5K event, taking the top spot by more than 15 seconds.
- Korczynski's second race of the season led to another victory, this time at the Battle in Beantown. He finished at 23:52 in the 8K event to help the Huskies to a third-place finish overall.
- At the NCAA Northeast Regionals, Korczynski finished seventh and posted his best 10K finish of his career and the third best time in program history at 29:39.9.
In addition to the honor for Korczynski, the Huskies had three runners finish in the top-15, earning All-CAA honors for their performance.
