BOSTON - Northeastern women's soccer coach
Ashley Phillips has announced the addition of transfers Holland Stam and Jessie Hunt ahead of the upcoming 2022 season.
Â
Stam joins the Huskies from Duke as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining, while Hunt comes over from Wisconsin as a junior with three years of eligibility left.
Â
"We are really excited to welcome our two transfers into the program," remarked Phillips. "They both come from excellent programs that provided them with a wealth of experience on and off the field. More importantly though, both are high character people who will continue to propel our program forward in a positive way."
Â
A goalkeeper, Stam is making her return to Massachusetts as a native of Ipswich and as a graduate of the Pingree School. With Duke, she made her collegiate debut in 2018 at Syracuse. Stam earned ACC Academic Honor Roll honors in 2020-21 and was a part of multiple NCAA tournament teams in her time at Duke, including two Elite Eight runs. Making an impact off the field, Stam was President of Duke's chapter of Athlete Ally and was SAAC Sub-Committee Leader of Diversity and Equity.
Â
Hunt is joining the Huskies from Wisconsin as a midfielder. She played in 19 total games for the Badgers over two seasons, making two starts. A native of Edina, Minnesota, Hunt earned Big Ten All-Academic Team honors in 2021. In high school, she competed for Edina and the Minnesota Thunder in the ECNL. Hunt plans to major in bioengineering and biochemistry at Northeastern.
Â
Stam and Hunt join a Huskies roster that is welcoming a seven-player freshman class to a team that made it to the CAA Championship game last season.
