Lund, Hughes Highlight Huskies Taken in 2022 NHL Draft

MONTREAL – Current and future members of the Northeastern men's ice hockey team were selected on Friday in the 2022 NHL Entry Level draft, with two going early in the second round - incoming freshman Cam Lund was taken 34th overall by the San Jose Sharks, making him the 73rd Husky to be drafted to the NHL. Sophomore center Jack Hughes went just a few picks later at pick number 51 to the Los Angeles Kings, making him the 74th Husky to be drafted.

Lund's no. 34 pick is the highest a Husky has gone in the draft since Jamie Oleksiak was drafted by the Dallas Stars in 2011 with the 14th overall pick in the first round. With two second-round selections, it's the first draft in program history where two Huskies were selected before the third round.
