BOSTON - The No. 8/9
 Northeastern men's hockey team (0-0-0) will host the LIU Sharks this Saturday, October 1st for their season opener at 7:30 P.M. on ESPN+.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. SHOWDOWN WITH THE SHARKS: Northeastern and LIU are meeting for just the third time in program history with the previous two times played in January 2022. NU leads the all-time series, 2-0-0.
2. RUN IT BACK:Â The last time the two teams faced off, the Huskies won game one, 1-0, off a third period goal from
Ty Jackson. Northeastern concluded the weekend with a 6-0 win thanks to five different goal scorers, with two goals credited to
Aidan McDonough.
3. A SEASON TO REMEMBER: Under the direction of Hockey East Coach of the Year
Jerry Keefe, and backstopped by Mike Richter Award Winner and Hobey Baker Finalist,
Devon Levi, the Huskies captured the 2021-22 Hockey East regular season title for the first time in program history thanks to a last second goal from
Aidan McDonough on the final night of the regular season. The Huskies finished the year with a 25-13-1 record en route to the program's third trip to the NCAA tournament in the last five seasons.
During Saturday's game, Northeastern will be giving away replica banners during intermission and there will be a jersey sale.
