Battle Of The Huskies Set For Saturday

BOSTON, Mass. -- For the second weekend in a row, it is a battle of the Huskies as Northeastern travels to Storrs, Conn. for a lone Saturday matchup with UConn.

The game is set for 7:35 p.m. ET and all the action can be caught on ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. HUSKIES VS THE OTHER HUSKIES (Part 2): The two programs battled it out last weekend as a part of the 2023 Frozen Fenway event. The Northeastern Huskies came out victorious, 4-1, with four skaters recording a multi-point game: Aidan McDonough (1g, 1a), Liam Walsh (1g, 1a), Jack Williams (1g, 1a) and Cam Lund (2a). Last season, in the three matchups between the two Huskies, McDonough led Northeastern with five goals and three assists, including a hat trick in Hartford, Conn. Gunnarwolfe Fontaine tallied three points (1g, 2a) while Jayden Struble collected two helpers. Netminder Devon Levi even picked up his sole career assist on a McDonough goal.
  2. THAT'S OUR ROOK: Following his performance at Frozen Fenway, freshman Jack Williams of the Northeastern men's hockey team was named the Pro Ambitions Co-Rookie of the Week. The award marks William's first weekly honor from Hockey East. Williams tallied a multiple-point night in the Huskies' win over #9/10 UConn at the 2023 Frozen Fenway event on Saturday afternoon. Williams kicked off his evening with an assist on the Husky's second goal of the night for a 2-0 advantage. He sealed the game with the fourth and final goal for the Huskies 4-1 victory. Williams finished the night with three shots on goal, went two-for-three on faceoffs and was +2. The Biddeford, Maine native currently ranks second in points (5-8-13) among freshman for Northeastern and sixth overall on the team.
  3. POINT HUNTING: Four players are currently riding point streaks as Northeastern heads into their third game of 2023. Freshman Vinny Borgesi has tallied two helpers in two games, sophomore Matt Choupani has recorded a goal and an assist in two games, senior Aidan McDonough leads with four points in two games played (2g, 2a) and senior Tyler Spott had collected two assists in his last two games. The Huskies longest streak in recent games came from junior Sam Colangelo who tallied six points (3g, 3a) in four games played including scoring the overtime winner at LIU before the holiday break.
